Did you know May is ALS Awareness Month? 💙

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis—often called Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a progressive neurological disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.

Over time, the brain loses the ability to communicate with the muscles, leading to loss of movement, difficulty speaking and swallowing, challenges with breathing and more.

ALS affects the body... but not the mind. Many people living with ALS remain fully aware as the disease progresses.

We would like to extend a great big thank you to Scott Henderson and his team who put on Stand Up! To ALS (In Memory Of Sheila Henderson). The event raised $15,788!! This money will help our local families battling ALS.

ALS is an all-volunteer organization, we would not be in existence if it weren’t for our amazing community who continues to support this cause.

June 2nd is Lou Gehrig Day! ⚾️

June 2 is recognized as "Lou Gehrig Day" in Major League Baseball. This special day was dedicated to Lou Gehrig to bring awareness to the disease that the great New York Yankees star battled, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or ALS.

On this day the game of baseball invites the entire world to remember the legacy of Lou Gehrig and to recognize and honor those living with and battling ALS. 💙

Together, help us strike out ALS.

We’re excited to share ALS OF UTICA received a Spark Good grant from our local Walmart. This grant helps families in Oneida and Herkimer counties who are battling ALS.

ALS Dinner at Schuyler Commons this Saturday to benefit ALS of Utica!

We want to extend a big thank you to Camille Kresa, one of our dedicated donors that raises money for local families fighting ALS. Camille lost her husband to ALS.

Saturday, May 31, 2025, 2 PM to 7 PM
2 PM to 5 PM live entertainment, featuring Dennis Veator
5 PM – dinner: sausage, peppers, potatoes, and onions, catered by Amodio, rolls and butter, salad, water, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, and a variety of desserts!
$15 in advance/$18 at the door

You can sign up in advance at the Schuyler Commons office located at 1776 Independence Square, Utica, NY or you can call Camille at 315-864-8276. If there is no answer, please leave a message and I will get back to you.

There will be basket raffles and 50/50 tickets available for sale. After dinner, the winners will be pulled and announced.
