Swaddling Clothes of St. John's Lutheran Church of Marengo Swaddling Clothes is a free store for parents who need a little help getting clothing, diapers, and other baby-related supplies for their little ones.

We offer size 0-size 6 as well as maternity items. We appreciate donations. Thank you! How does “Swaddling Clothes” work? From various donors, we assemble a collection of items associated with pregnancy and motherhood—maternity and baby clothes, diapers, formula, bottles, etc… Then, on the first Saturday of each month, St. John’s Lutheran Church hosts a “shopping day” where you can survey our collection and take whatever you need, up to a certain number of items. If any of the items you take can be re-donated to Swaddling Clothes when you are done with them, we ask that you do so to help those in need after you. Items of Collection:

Here are some fun stats!

In 2023, there were 26 Swaddling Clothes centers up and running. Together they had 5268 family visits, which is about 439 family visits a month, and gave out 7238 packages of diapers, 6574 packages of wipes, and 1195 "big" items.

We are open for shopping on the first Saturday of every month from 9am to Noon at St. John's Lutheran Church (780 Court Ave.) in Marengo, IA. That is also when donations are accepted. There are no requirements for utilizing this resource. Thank you!

We are so thankful for all of the donations over the years! Thank you! Without donations, we would not be able to provide this resource for families in our area.

Just a reminder: We only accept donations during our open shopping hours (1st Saturday of the month, from 9am to Noon). If you would like to donate at another time during the month, please call the church office. We ask that donations are not left outside the church building. Thank you!

Items we accept:
-Gently used clothing without stains size NB to 6.
-Maternity Clothing
-Gently used children's shoes
-Baby items: bottles, bibs, bathtubs, high chairs, swings, bouncy seats, bassinets, and similar items.
-Children's Books
-Car seats and Cribs - there is a form to sign when you bring these items in.
-Blankets, Crib sheets, etc.
-Unfortunately we do not have room to accept toys and stuffed animals.
