🎁✨ SAFE TOYS & GIFTS MONTH β€” KEEP KIDS SAFE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON! ✨🎁

December is the biggest gift-giving month of the year β€” and while toys bring joy, they should also be safe for the children who receive them. ❀️

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), over 251,000 toy-related injuries were treated in ERs nationwide in just one year β€” and 72% were children under age 15.

But here’s the good news:
Toy safety has improved dramatically thanks to decades of federal regulation and updated laws protecting children.

🧸 Did you know?
βœ” The CPSC was created in 1972 to protect the public from unsafe consumer products.
βœ” After major toy recalls for lead exposure in 2007, Congress strengthened protections through the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) in 2008.
βœ” Toymakers in the U.S. must now meet over 100 safety rules, tests, and chemical standards before toys reach the shelves.
βœ” All children’s toys must be tested by certified third-party labs β€” especially if design or materials change.

Even with these regulations, parents/caregivers still play a vital role in choosing safe gifts. πŸ§‘β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦

πŸ›‘ Toy Safety Tips for Holiday Shopping

βœ” Choose age-appropriate toys
βœ” Avoid toys with small pieces for young children
βœ” Be cautious of magnets β€” swallowing them can be extremely dangerous
βœ” Watch out for cords, wires, and button batteries
βœ” Pair ride-on toys like scooters and bikes with proper helmets and safety gear
βœ” Check the CPSC recall list if unsure about a product’s safety

πŸ“Œ More guidance is available in the CPSC publication β€œFor Kids’ Sake – Think Toy Safety.”

Let’s make this holiday season merry, bright, and SAFE for every child. πŸ’™
