Our New Year’s Baby Has Arrived!

Please help us welcome Dahlia Thompson, born on January 2, 2026 at 9:51 p.m. Baby Dahlia weighed 7lbs. 5oz. and is 19 3/4 inches long.

Proud parents, Tiara Acevedo and Donald Thompson, are from Central Florida.

Dr. Muniz delivered baby Dahlia, with Dr. Kaashmiri serving as her pediatrician.

Congratulations to this beautiful family and thank you for allowing us to be part of such a special moment!

As Director of Environmental Services, Monroe has been instrumental in maintaining the safety and cleanliness of our hospital. We regularly receive compliments on the cleanliness of our facility, and that is a direct reflection of his leadership and commitment.

Each year, our team proudly adopts children through Anchorage Children’s Home, helping make the season brighter for those in need. Jesse Smallwood has presented the Jackson Hospital Foundation with a generous $100,000 donation. This extraordinary gift will directly benefit Jackson Hospital through the purchase of essential equipment. Jackson Hospital and the Jackson Hospital Foundation are deeply grateful to Mr. Smallwood for his generosity and continued support. Donations such as this help address critical hospital needs that fall outside the capital expenditure budget and have a meaningful impact on patient care and services.

Jackson Hospital Foundation hosted its 35th Annual Lights of Love Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 11. The ceremony recognized stars and lights purchased in honor or in memory of loved ones and featured a performance by the Marianna K–8 Children’s Chorus, along with a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. More than $5,500 was raised through this event, and a check was presented to the Jackson Hospital Board of Trustees by the Jackson Hospital Foundation Board. All funds raised will support equipment needs at Jackson Hospital.

Jackson Hospital physicians Dr. Robin Albritton and Dr. Mark Akerson joined colleagues from across the state to meet with Chair Adam Anderson, Representative Hillary Cassel, Chair Josie Tomkow, Representative Jennifer Kincart Jonsson, Representative Vanessa Oliver, Senator Kathleen Passidomo, and House Healthcare Subcommittee Staff Director Eric Lloyd.

During the discussion, the physicians outlined real-world challenges they encounter daily, particularly the inefficiencies associated with the current prior authorization process and the prevalence of inappropriate peer-to-nonpeer interactions.

They provided concrete examples demonstrating that, despite most payors having access to electronic medical records, physicians and care teams continue to spend substantial time submitting duplicative clinical information. Their insights underscored how these administrative requirements divert focus from patient care and reduce provider efficiency.

Lawmakers were highly engaged and expressed appreciation for hearing directly from front-line clinicians who work every day to deliver high-quality care in their communities.
