Can we keep it real with y'all for a second?
There was a time when hesitation ruled the day when it came to even talking about what we're doing.
Our owner is a single mother from Detroit. She wasn't supposed to be building anything. She wasn't supposed to have answers that dermatologists didn't have. She wasn't supposed to be the one creating products that were actually working for her kids when the prescriptions kept failing them.
Her daughter had severe eczema — scabs on her scalp, a gash on her forehead from scratching. They went to one of the best dermatologists in Michigan. And still, the insurance kept sending them home with the generic cream her daughter was allergic to. Over. And over. And over again 🤬
She had two choices. Keep waiting on a system that wasn't built for US. Or figure it out herself.
We are so glad she decided to figure it out herself!
No steroids. No synthetics. No "normal hair" standard that was never created with US in mind. Just real ingredients, real research, and real results — on her kids, in her home, before she ever sold a single thing.
And now? Even her youngest hasn't had an eczema breakout since his first breakout and diagnosis. Her oldest daughter's dreads are down to her waist — no extensions, no chemicals. Her oldest son's hair is almost to the middle of his back at 7 years old.
Though she still struggles with hesitation from time to time. With who she is to say speak out? And how she needs to show up?
But then we encourage her to remember — somebody else is sitting where she was sitting. Frustrated. Dismissed. Watching their child suffer and wondering if there's another way.
