Have to admit I am very grateful this election season is finally ending. However, I am hoping for calm and peace from those who are happy and celebrating AND those unhappy and feeling angry or fearful with the outcome of the vote. Hoping for an emergence of our best instincts and healing during this next season.

The importance of social distancing has forced us all to be more creative. It remains critically important to me to stay available to my clients and offer alternatives to the traditional in person contact. I am now working with a HIPPA compliant platform for online video telemental health sessions. Although it may seem initially awkward, I am finding it quickly becomes comfortable and highly productive.

Who knows what else I will learn and discover during this season?

During this time of anxiety and adaptation it is essential to find the paths for self-care and emotional balance. I want to be available and I am able to see clients in my office, and I offer telephone and FaceTime appointments. Remember to take time for calm, be kind to yourself and others. The status on illness and infection here in Marietta and Cobb County is rapidly changing, and will require flexibility to navigate. My current intention is to keep my office open with hourly disinfecting to keep all surfaces clean and as germ free as possible. When necessary for my patients, tele-mental health options are available. This is a difficult and stressful time, but with care, patience and kindness; we will come through this challenge. A message about coronavirus and my office:

From my understanding, the risk of infection or serious illness from the coronavirus remains very low; however I want to be sensitive to the anxiety so many are feeling at this time. As concerns about illness in our area increases; I wanted to share the additional actions to keep my office as germ free as possible. All hard surfaces in the waiting area, restroom, and office area will be wiped down with Antibacterial cleanser each hour. Additionally, I am asking that clients cancel appointments if they have any symptoms consistent with the virus. There, of course, will be no charge associated with a late cancellation for health issues.

As always, my primary concern is for the emotional and physical health of all who visit my office. Please share any concerns or additional suggestions directly with me.
