Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a form of p

sychotherapy, commonly called “talk therapy.” The approach is similar to cognitive behavioral therapy but tailored to help people who tend to experience emotions more intensely than most. The practice offers support to people experiencing eating disorders, borderline personality disorder, self-harm, and suicidality. Many people turn to Recovery DBT after numerous attempts to find relief from mental health challenges. The practice also offers an intensive outpatient program for those who are ready to dedicate themselves to achieving measurable improvements in how they feel and function each day. What works for one person won’t always work for the next, but dialectical behavior therapy is an option that helps many people find lasting relief from serious mental health issues and go on to live active, productive, and fulfilling lives. Residents of Marietta, Georgia, who are ready to try a new approach to mental health and wellness should set up a time to come in and meet the Recovery DBT team. Booking options include a simple phone call or a visit to the online scheduling page.

is one of the core skills in .

It involves paying attention to what is happening in the present moment, without trying to judge or change it.

This can include noticing your thoughts, your emotions, or what is happening around you, simply as it is.

Over time, mindfulness helps create space between what you feel and how you respond.

This space can make it easier to choose how to move forward, rather than reacting automatically.

It can be easy to feel like your emotions are too much or not appropriate.

But emotions are part of being human. They often reflect something important, even if they feel overwhelming.

The goal is not to get rid of emotions, but to understand them and respond in a way that feels safer and more manageable.

You are allowed to feel what you feel.

Progress does not always look like constant improvement.

Some days feel lighter. Other days feel harder. That does not mean you are going backwards.

Healing often includes setbacks, uncertainty, and moments where things feel stuck. These experiences are common and do not erase the work you have already done.

Be patient with yourself through the ups and downs.

You are still moving forward, even when it does not feel that way.

Many people learn to cope by keeping everything inside.

Over time, this can feel isolating, especially when things get heavy.

Asking for help takes courage. It requires awareness, honesty, and trust. That makes it a skill, not a weakness.

If you are struggling, you do not have to carry it alone.

Support is available, and reaching out is a valid first step. We believe in you taking that first step.
