Congratulations to Chris Preziotti - he's in our Student Spotlight for September! 👏
Chris has practiced over 250 hours with us since he started last June! We get to see him almost daily, as he averages about 20 classes a month.
He's demonstrated to our teachers and other students that yoga is important to him, both on and off the mat. He approaches each practice with curiosity and a beginner's mindset, and with such a willingness to trade ego for insight. He's embraced the true definition of yoga - union - and has made connections with fellow students and teachers that extend beyond the studio. And there's been more than once when he's lingered after practice to console fellow yogis during tough times. His generous spirit is woven deep in this community. 😊
Why do you make time for your yoga practice?
"I tend to think of my yoga practice as daily body-mind-spirit hygiene. I'm a better human after a morning of practice, and I've worked towards building it into a daily habit. I'm grateful to Gruvn for all the support and guidance in my practice, as it's the community here that keeps me coming back to my mat. That, and the ginger chews." 😉
Is there a style of yoga that you prefer?
"Recently, I find myself gravitating towards Ashtanga. I enjoy the structure of the primary series and its way of helping you discover the nuances in your practice. It's a joyful, humbling exploration. That said, I also enjoy the creative sequencing and breathwork of vinyasa and power classes, and can't think of a better way to wrap up a weekend than with some slow flow and yin or deep stretching."
How do you enjoy time off your mat?
"That'd be family time, bonus if we're moving: morning walks to school with my wife and 7-year-old daughter, our weekend hikes on nearby trails, and family 5k events. For the downshift, we play video games together and have pizza-filled family movie nights. I also enjoy playing the drums and guitar, and, being a ska and reggae fan, you'll find me gruvn along to anything with an upbeat."
Chris, there is a peace that comes from being in your presence, and we're so grateful that you choose to share your practice with us! ✨
