"The Power of Hugs: 12 Hugs a Day for Connection & Growth! 💖"

As parents, connection is what brings joy and ease to our journey. Emotional connection is all about giving our kids the time and attention they need to feel seen, valued, and loved—especially in those tough moments.

Physical connection, like hugs, takes it even further.

💡 Did you know that hugs raise our oxytocin and serotonin levels, helping us feel calm and loved?

Virginia Satir said it best:
“We need 4 hugs a day for survival. 8 for maintenance. And 12 for growth.”

I’ve started challenging my kids to hit 12 hugs a day, whether it's hugging me, or even each other. With older kids, it’s not always easy, but every hug counts!

So, here’s my challenge to you: Go hug your kids today—and your partner too if you have one! Let’s prioritize that physical connection, even with our busy schedules, because it truly makes a difference.

The Power of Gratitude 🌟

As a mental health provider, I see firsthand how powerful gratitude can be in transforming our minds and well-being. In my practice, gratitude is the number one coping skill I recommend to my clients. It’s simple, but its effects are profound.

Research shows that practicing gratitude regularly can have incredible benefits on mental health. Studies have found that people who consistently express gratitude experience lower levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. It’s a natural mood booster! 🙌

When we focus on what we are thankful for, our brains start to shift away from the negative and embrace the positive. Gratitude strengthens relationships, improves sleep, increases resilience, and boosts self-esteem. 🌿 It’s like rewiring your mind to see the good, even in tough times.

Personally, I’ve incorporated daily gratitude into my life, and it’s been a game-changer. Whether it’s writing down three things I’m grateful for each morning or taking a moment to reflect during stressful days—it helps me stay grounded and present.
