Dental Careers Institute

Dental Careers Institute Started in 1987, Dental Careers is the oldest and most experienced dental assisting program of its kind in Atlanta. Classes meet every week for 10 weeks.

You will be taught in an actual practicing dental office and learn from dental professionals who practice and teach the most current up-to-date methods. We offer classes on Friday, Saturday and weeknights. Friday and Saturday classes meet from 8:30AM to 5PM and the weekday group meets on Tuesday AND Wednesday from 6-9:30 PM.. Everything is included in the tuition: all books, uniform scrubs, equipm

ent, materials, clinical supplies, home study materials, referral service. We have a teacher-to-student ratio of 1 instructor for every 4 students in the clinic. There is NO OTHER school in Atlanta which can match that teacher to student ratio of personalized attention. We have had many students transfer to our school from other local “year long” programs saying, “I got tired of sitting in a classroom for 8 months and never working in any clinical setting!!” Our students are working in a real dental office clinical environment from the VERY FIRST DAY. There are several dental assisting programs to choose from in the Atlanta area. Some of them will NOT give you the cost of their program over the phone or in their literature. Can you really trust them to provide you with a quality teaching program? We also won't waste your time teaching you subjects that do nothing more than inflate the program to 6-12 months to justify a tuition of $18,000. Our program provides hands-on clinical experience the first day. Which program do you think would be a better learning experience? Our lecture room uses state-of-the-art audio-visual PowerPoint™ equipment to make the learning experience both interesting and enjoyable. The lecture and clinic sessions are held at our dental office which has the absolute latest in dental technology, including digital xrays, CEREC CAD-CAM, and state-of-the-art treatment room equipment.

Week 4 was a hit and surprisingly a lot less messy than usual! This week we introduced students to impressions and when and why they are taken. We started with upper alginate and had each student pour up their own model. We’ll continue next week with lowers and then get into making some bleaching tays. *Reminder to all students- next week is X-Ray quiz! Study, study!

Students are often surprised by how quickly they pick things up. Instrument names, tray setups, procedure flow, it all starts to make sense sooner than expected.

When you are learning by doing, your brain and your hands work together. That is when real progress happens.

Confidence grows faster than you think.

There is a point in training when everything shifts. You stop overthinking every step and start moving with confidence. You recognize instruments, follow procedures, and stay in rhythm with the dentist.

That moment is not luck. It is practice, repetition, and the right training environment.

And once it clicks, it stays.

Every students favorite week, x-ray week! Week 3 is when we introduce our students to digital X-rays and we are always so impressed by how quickly they catch on! From here we will continue to build on different aspects of dentistry but students will include mastering their X-ray skills every week until graduation. See you all next week when we start impressions!

Dental offices can move fast. Multiple patients, back to back procedures, tight schedules.

A great assistant stays calm, focused, and organized. That calm energy affects the entire room, especially nervous patients.

Confidence in high pressure moments is built through practice, not luck.

Some people hear 10 weeks and assume it is rushed. It is not. It is focused.

When training is structured, intentional, and hands on, you learn what truly matters without wasting time.

Efficiency is not about cutting corners. It is about cutting distractions.
