An 8-year-old tragically passed after choking on a grape at school.Prayers for the family during this unimaginable time.

8-year-old Nicholas Gray died after choking on a grape at Pomona Elementary School in the Alvin Independent School District (Alvin ISD) in Texas, according to reports from March 2026

Nicholas was eating a grape at school when he began to choke.

"His classmates were present during this incident, and they tried to help him, "They ran out and said, 'Nicholas is choking.' Everybody tried to help him."

According to the district, school personnel called 911 right away, and both the school nurse and the campus police officer responded without delay, taking “every possible measure to provide aid.”

EMS arrived and continued lifesaving care. They transported the child to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Everyone involved did everything possible, but the grape was just lodged too far down, according to the local official close to the incident.

This incident has raised significant concerns among parents regarding safety, specifically the presence of high-risk foods like grapes in schools.
Reports indicate this follows other recent choking emergencies in schools across the country in early 2026.

Please, let’s stay mindful—small actions can prevent big heartbreak. 🙏

Please, say a prayer for his family, friends and all that may be feeling the pain as they navigate through this most difficult time 🙏

These teachers know how crucial CPR training is because immediate, bystander-initiated CPR can double or triple a person's chance of survival from cardiac arrest by maintaining blood flow to vital organs until professional help arrive.
