We invite you to visit our newest temporary exhibit, “Shelby Built”.
When you think of Carroll Shelby, legendary machines like the Mustang, AC Cobra, and some of the most formidable race cars of their era immediately come to mind.
But the story doesn’t end there.
One of Shelby’s most surprising collaborations came in the 1980s with Dodge and Chrysler, resulting in the 1986 Dodge Shelby Omni GLHS—affectionately known as the Shelby Slingshot.
This unassuming compact car packed an impressive punch with its cast-iron block, SOHC I-4 turbocharged engine. Paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, the GLHS produced approximately 175 horsepower and reached a top speed of 135 MPH.
It’s a perfect reminder that “fun comes in many shapes and sizes.”
Don’t miss your chance to experience this remarkable small-but-mighty machine now on display at Savoy!
