With medications like Ozempic gaining popularity for weight loss, many people are seeing dramatic changes, not just in their waistlines, but also in their feet. One lesser-known side effect is something experts are calling “Ozempic Feet,” which involves sagging skin, reduced fat padding, and increased visibility of veins and tendons in the feet.

📌 Why does this happen?

When you lose weight quickly, the fat that cushions your feet—especially under your heels and the balls of your feet—can shrink faster than your skin can adapt. This can make it feel like you're walking directly on bone, leading to pain, gait issues, and even long-term complications if left unaddressed.

If you’re experiencing discomfort or noticeable changes in your feet after weight loss, it’s important to take it seriously. Wearing well-cushioned shoes, monitoring your feet regularly, and working with a podiatrist can help you manage symptoms and protect your mobility 👣

06/19/2025

Tarsal tunnel syndrome is a less common type of peripheral neuropathy that happens when the tibial nerve becomes compressed or irritated. This nerve runs through a narrow passageway near the ankle called the tarsal tunnel.

Several factors can contribute to this nerve compression:
🔴 Ankle injuries like sprains, fractures, or dislocations that lead to swelling.
🔴 Structural issues such as flat feet or overly high arches can also put added strain on the area.
🔴 In some cases, masses like ganglion cysts, bone spurs, or varicose veins may physically crowd the tunnel.

If addressed early, the outlook for recovery is promising, especially when the underlying issue is treatable 💁‍♀️ If you’re noticing persistent foot discomfort, numbness, or tingling near your ankle, don’t ignore it, reach out for an evaluation. Prompt care can make a meaningful difference 🤗
