Meet Misty Roberts, HSP Social Worker

Misty has been serving as one of our Social Workers for several months now but has been a social worker for SIX years! Misty started out as an overdose specialist, later became a clinical therapist and along the way she states she's had the privilege of working with just about every population you can imagine. Misty shares, "there was one group I hadn't yet served, those facing end of life. That's what led me to hospice and to be honest, it has become the most rewarding part of my career. In hospice I feel the most needed and most valued. Patients and their families truly appreciate the support we bring during one of life's hardest seasons. It's a time many people don't want to face, but that's exactly where we get to step in to be present, listen, and to walk alongside them with compassion. Every day I'm reminded why I love this field. Thank you to the families who let us be part of such sacred moments! Misty also shares, "I chose hospice because I get to be one on one and give the comfort care they need and be able to know I made a difference and put a smile on their faces!"

Misty states, "Outside of work, my greatest joy is being Mom. In my free time, I love playing with my son, Logan. He's an athlete through and through basketball, baseball, soccer, football, you name it, he plays it. He's also a proud Boy Scout, which keeps me very busy and grateful every single day."

Meet Sarah Ziler, RN, Clinical Manager. Sarah has been with us for a couple months now, and has settled seamlessly into her new role as Clinical Manager.

Sarah has been a nurse for 14 years, and was a STNA prior to that, making her nursing career 18 years and counting!

Sarah states, "I chose hospice because I found that I love helping and caring for patients and families in the most difficult times. Being able to provide comfort and peace to people during the end of life is truly an honor I've been blessed to be a part of."

So, what DOES Sarah do in her spare time? Sarah shares, "In my spare time, you'll find my husband and I chasing our 6 year old son, Jameson and 4 year old twins, Athena and Amelia on the family farm."

When her patient wouldn’t leave her dog to get urgent medical help, Jeannie Lucht, RN stepped in, offering to take Favio home for the night and arrange care for the next day. Her kindness and quick thinking made all the difference. The patient agreed to go to the hospital and thankfully was able to return home just 24 hours later!

Jeannie went above and beyond, representing the very best of Amedisys. She didn’t just help a patient in crisis — she reassured her, advocated for her and quite literally took care of the ones she loves. It’s this kind of compassionate, whole-person care that makes our work meaningful, and nurses like Jeannie true MVPs. Thank you, Jeannie, for leading with heart for our patients and all that matters to them!

Three members of our Garner, NC hospice care center recently came together to support a local family as their 22-year-old son entered his final moments of life. The team responded quickly, admitted the patient, remained with the family and provided comfort and prayer as he passed — all in one meaningful visit.
