Is Vitamin A actually dangerous… or have we misunderstood it?
For decades, vitamin A has been labeled as toxic and potentially dangerous, especially during pregnancy. But when you look deeper into the research and traditional diets, the story becomes far more nuanced.
One key detail is often overlooked:
👉 Not all forms of vitamin A are the same.
In fact, the difference between whole-food vitamin A (retinol) and synthetic vitamin A (retinyl palmitate) may explain much of the confusion surrounding vitamin A safety and health outcomes.
In my latest blog article, I break down:
• Why vitamin A plays a critical role in immune health, gut integrity, and vision
• How vitamin A supports cellular development and pregnancy
• The surprising difference between real vitamin A vs synthetic forms found in many supplements
• Why plant sources like beta-carotene aren’t always reliable sources of usable vitamin A
• What research actually says about the 10,000 IU “toxicity rule”
If you've ever wondered whether vitamin A supplements are helpful, harmful, or misunderstood, this is an important conversation.
