Fat pad atrophy of the foot is a common cause of pain in the ball of the foot and heel, especially as we age. The natural cushioning under the metatarsal heads and heel gradually thins, leading to increased pressure, inflammation, callus formation, and discomfort when walking or standing. Many patients describe the sensation as “walking on bone” or feeling like they’ve lost the padding on the bottom of their feet.

One emerging treatment option for this condition is LipoSana injections. These injections are designed to help restore cushioning and improve shock absorption in areas where the fat pad has thinned.
