Dysautonomia is a group of disorders that involve dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system, the part of the brain that regulates involuntary body functions such as heart rate, blood pressure, and sweating. This dysfunction can cause brain fog, dizziness, pain, cold extremities, sweating, digestive issues, anxiety, sleep issues, heart rate instability, difficulty breathing, ringing in the ears, and much more. There are several conditions that fall under the term dysautonomia, the most commonly known one being POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). When dysautonomia and symptoms arise, treating the person as individualized as possible is essential to recovering their quality of life.
