AAOS 2024 was my first meeting as an Exhibitor instead of as a member or fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. When you own a company that has a booth, you are unable to attend as an academic member. I’m interested in showing the AAOS that this is detrimental to Orthopaedic Surgeon entrepreneurs. We want to encourage more physicians to be at the helm of the companies that influence and shape our profession. We should allow for a means of disclosure for business owners that allow us to also participate in the meetings, just as physician consultants for industry do.
