Creative Medical Education and Training Solutions CMETS offers healthcare education and training in the Monterey area. We did not have an office at that time. Eventually we switched from the LVN to the RN board.

CMETS’ humble beginnings in 2004 were created out of the necessity for local CNAs to be able to obtain the required CEUs in order to renew their certification. CMETS had to do so “creatively”, working around both the CNAs work schedule and the library hours. CMETS applied for a CEP (Continuing Education Provider) number through the LVN board. At the time of the switch, CMETS began to offer the DSD (Director of Staff Development) 24 hour certification course. The training was hybrid in nature, using meeting/conference calling and home study. While providing CNA CEUs, CMETS was called and asked if we could provide training to help CNAs who had to retest through the Red Cross in order to maintain their certification. At the time CMETS was not equipped, so we “filed” the idea. A few years later, CMETS was asked by a local SNF to train RNAs (Restorative Nurse Aid). Then in the summer of 2015, CMETS was looking for another product to help people become educated in the field of caring for our rapidly growing elderly population in their own homes as either an independent caregiver or working through agencies who hire them. Hence, our Home Care Aid training was born. In 2016, our dream became a reality when we secured an office/classroom. By then, CDPH (who certifies CNAs) was requiring a NAC number. Before we applied for the NAC number, we went back and re-visited the idea of the CNA refresher course and added it to the application. CMETS was granted a NAC number along with an exempt status from BPPE for all training programs we provide with the exception of the DSD training, which falls under our CEP number.

Background: A former CNA is now a PhD student in the School of Aging Studies at the University of South Florida. Her research, "Networks of Care: Understanding Turnover in Hospice Settings," focuses on how workplace relationships, social networks, and organizational factors influence CNA retention and job satisfaction in hospice and home-based care.

Purpose: This research examines how relationships, social networks, and workplace factors influence CNA retention and job satisfaction, with the goal of contributing evidence-based strategies that support workforce stability and improve care delivery.
