Our Story

Our History Bower-Rose Funeral Home in Marine City, MI and Kammeraad-Merchant Funeral Home in Memphis, MI. are independently owned and operated with a rich tradition and history of service to the Blue Water area for over 80 years and to the Memphis area for over 40 years. Both facilities have an interior capacity to accommodate over 100 people. William A. Bower founded the Bower-Rose Funeral Home over 80 years ago and soon after starting the business in his home, he moved it to its current location at 222 North Main Street in Marine City which formerly served as the McLouth residence. Bernard A. Rose joined the firm in 1929, became a partner and later the owner as the name of the business changed from W.A. Bower Funeral Home to Bower-Rose Funeral Home. Robert W. Kammeraad, owner of Kammeraad Funeral Home in Memphis, Michigan, became associated with Mr. Rose in 1968. Michmael Zajac joined the staff in 1985 and was named manager in 1994 upon the death of Mr. Rose. In 2013 Michael Zajac retired and Paul E. Merchant became the owner of both locations. Kammeraad Funeral Home in Memphis was founded by Bob Kammeraad in the mid 1960โ€™s when he and his wife, Janet, relocated from Grand Rapids, Michigan to begin their future in Memphis by purchasing the business from Mr. Dale Barnard. Our independently owned and operated funeral home with homelike atmosphere has been in existence for over 40 years and is easily accessible being located on the west side of M-19 (Main Street) just a few blocks south of the traffic light at Bordman Road.
