Lichen planus is most common in middle-aged adults, but anyone can get it. The good news is that it's treatable by a board-certified dermatologist.

It’s Rare Disease Day, so we’re spreading awareness about skin diseases that most people have never heard of.

Elastoderma causes extreme looseness in the skin. It usually affects the skin of the neck, elbows, and knees, and it’s thought to be from an over-production of elastin. Unwanted saggy skin can be removed by a dermatologist.

Acral peeling skin syndrome is a genetic disorder that leads to painless peeling of the top layer of skin. It happens most often on the hands and feet, and lotions and creams can help prevent peeling.

Chromhidrosis makes people produce sweat that’s black, brown, green, yellow, or blue. It happens after puberty and doctors can treat it with botox injections or topical creams.

Our board certified dermatologists have seen just about every condition imaginable. If you have a skin problem that’s causing concern, call us today 715-732-0699

Many kids and young adults have a skin condition called keratosis pilaris, which causes dry, bumpy patches on the cheeks, arms, or thighs. It’s harmless and usually doesn’t cause pain or itching, but it can be embarrassing.

Keratosis pilaris tends to get worse in winter when the skin is dry due to low humidity. If you or your child has these sandpaper-like bumps, try using a thick, moisturizing cream. If that doesn’t help, a board-certified dermatologist can prescribe an ointment that might work better. To make an appointment, call 715-732-0699

❄️Cold weather can be rough on atopic dermatitis (a.k.a. eczema)❄️

Dry air and indoor heat increase inflammation and itching. Hot showers feel amazing, but they strip the skin of natural oils and make dryness worse. And while we love cozy sweaters, many are made of irritating materials that can cause flare-ups.

To combat dry, itchy breakouts this winter:
-Apply a thick fragrance-free moisturizing cream within 3 minutes of showering.
-Keep showers lukewarm, not hot.
-Run a humidifier in the bedroom.
-Wear cotton and other soft, breathable fabrics.
