This past weekend, Miles took some human friends for a walk through a field of Ragweed (check out the pollen on those pawsπ). This prompted his friends to suffer some severe symptoms of eye allergies.
For some, spring and fall are typically when allergic conjunctivitis symptoms are felt the most.
Symptoms include:
-Redness
-Itchy & watery eyes
-Burning sensation
-Swelling of the eyelids and the area around the eyes
-Sensitivity to light
-Possible blurred vision
Unfortunately, oral allergy medication is typically not strong enough for our eyes to benefit from it. Dr. Corgan suggests taking an allergy eye drop, such as Zaditor or Pataday, about 2 weeks before you think allergy season starts for you.
If you missed the boat on that, start taking the drops now and keep in mind that it can take the drops 10-14 days to show any benefits. Dont give up - use those drops!
Continue using the eye drops for about a 1 - 1.5 months to get through the allergy season.
Dont be like Miles' human friends and get caught unprepared!
