This April and all year long, we celebrate Occupational Therapy practitioners and the power of occupational therapy.

Occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants focus on the things you want and need to do in your daily life. Occupational therapy intervention uses everyday life activities (occupations) to promote health, well-being, and your ability to participate in the important activities in your life.

This keeps you able to enjoy quality of life, for as long as possible. A core purpose in hospice care as well. Many thanks to all OTs!

At Dierksen Hospice-Texarkana, we are proud to have compassionate professionals who truly embody our mission—and today, we’re excited to spotlight two of our dedicated hospice liaisons, Christine and Alisa.

Christine (pictured on the left) has been a valued member of the Dierksen team since May 2019, when she began her journey as our Business Office Manager. With a bachelor's degree in healthcare management, Christine brings both knowledge and heart to her role. She is the proud mother of her son, Gabe, and shares that her favorite part of her work is meeting patients and their families—taking the time to listen, connect, and provide comfort during meaningful moments.

Alisa (pictured on the right) also joined Dierksen in 2019, beginning her career as an RN Case Manager. After four years of dedicated service in that role, she transitioned into a hospice liaison position, where she has thrived for the past year and a half. Alisa is deeply passionate about hospice care, sharing that her love for marketing stems from her unwavering belief in the mission and the profound difference it makes in the lives of the families we serve. She is married to her husband, Scott, and they have two teenage sons who enjoy playing baseball.

Together, Christine and Alisa are committed to spreading awareness about the exceptional care provided by our team. Their compassion, dedication, and advocacy help ensure that more families experience the comfort, dignity, and support that hospice care offers.

Today we celebrate National Doctors Day and the physicians who dedicate their lives to caring for others.

Observed on March 30th, this day honors the first successful use of anesthesia in surgery by Crawford W. Long in 1842, a breakthrough that transformed modern medicine.

In hospice care, our physicians provide guidance, compassion, and expertise that help patients and families feel supported every step of the way.

Thank you to the doctors who lead with both skill and heart.
