Calling all local businesses, organizations, and community friends!

If you’re new here, Marion’s Festival of Trees takes place right here in Marion at the LDM Business Complex. It’s a charity event for the whole community — plus a little friendly competition 😉.

Here’s how it works: Tree sponsorships are $100 each, and ALL profits from sponsorships will be allocated as follows: 1st place receives 50%, 2nd place receives 35%, and 3rd place receives 15%. Each winner donates their prize money to a charity of their choice. The more trees sponsored, the more money the charities receive! Only 50 trees are available, so don’t wait!

An artificial tree is provided for you — you just decorate it however you’d like! Trees are “voted” on by the public by placing a new, unwrapped toy under the tree(s) they like best: 1 present = 1 point. The top 3 trees with the most points win the prize money for their chosen charity organization. All unwrapped toys are donated to Project Christmas and given to children right here in our community!

From the entire Invitation Therapy family, I want to take a second to wish our founder and owner, Ashley Swann, a very happy birthday! She has grown Invitation Therapy from a one-woman show with her serving kiddos in Marion to a practice that has a couple dozen amazing employees who provided over 20,000 visits to kids all across WNC. Working on our primitive reflexes in occupational therapy!

Primitive reflexes are the starting point for brain development. They start as reflexes for development and survival, later maturing and turning into postural reflexes that help with coordination, balance, and smooth movements.

Children should lose or ‘integrate’ primitive reflexes after the first year of life. Primitive reflexes are ‘retained’ when there is continual presentation of the reflexes after they should be integrated.

NC Medicaid is considering a rate reduction for physical, occupational, and speech therapy services starting October 1, 2025. This change could mean:

❌ Fewer therapy providers

❌ Longer wait times

❌ Reduced access to care for children who need it most
