🌬️ November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer death in the U.S.—and here in Marion County, our community faces higher diagnosis and mortality rates than both the Ohio and national averages.

While these numbers are concerning, there’s also hope. Many lung cancer cases can be prevented or caught early, when treatment works best.

Here are steps Marion County residents can take to protect their lung health:
💨 Quit smoking – It’s never too late to stop. Free help is available through the Ohio To***co Quit Line: 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669).
🏠 Test your home for radon – This colorless, odorless gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer. Radon test kits are low-cost and easy to use.
🏥 Talk to your doctor about screening – If you’re 50–80 years old and have a history of heavy smoking, you may qualify for a low-dose CT scan that can find lung cancer early.
🌳 Breathe clean air – Limit exposure to secondhand smoke and air pollutants whenever possible.

Together, we can work toward a future where fewer Marion County families are impacted by lung cancer.
