Maggie J Bretz, age 54 of Bucyrus, OH passed away August 4, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was born December 7, 1970, to the late Mormie and Betty (Bowles) Bretz in Kentucky.

Maggie is survived by children: Jeremy (Brooke) Taylor Clark of Tiro, Jared Scott Parmley of Versailles, MO, Julia Ryan Roberts of Bucyrus, 3 grandchildren: Miracle Mya Grace Taylor Clark plus 2 others, and brother Michael Bretz of Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, boyfriend Charles Morehart, siblings: Brenda Ann Bretz Wilson, Bobbie Jo Snedegar, and David Dewayne Bretz.

Maggie enjoyed spending time with her cat and pit bull "Hugi", going out to eat, and watching TV. She loved shopping, cooking, and being with her family.

Jane A Foltz, age 68 of Marion, OH passed away August 2, 2025, at her home. She was born July 16, 1957, to the late Warren and Evelyn (Boysen) McDougall in Sandusky, OH. Jane was married to James Foltz on July 2, 1999, who still survives in Marion.

Jane is survived by her husband, son Cory Radebaugh of Morral, grandchildren: Trinity Radebaugh and Hendrix Radebaugh, both of Morral, and brother Jim (Elyse) McDougall of Powell. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Jane was a 1975 graduate of River Valley High School and earned an Associate degree from Marion Technical College. She worked for and retired from Chase Bank as a secretary/clerk.

Jane was an avid reader, especially author Stephen King. Her favorite song was "American Pie" by Don Mclean. Jane was a strong willed woman who loved planting flowers, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Dan Persinger, 56, of Marion, Ohio, died on August 4, 2025.

He was raised in Marion by Larry and Lynn Persinger (Lawson). Dan graduated from Harding High School / Tri Rivers and attended Marion Technical College. He enjoyed fi****ms, recreational shooting, and anything outdoors, from camping, hiking, kayaking, swimming to hunting. He was an avid Ohio State and Cleveland Browns' fan. Dan worked many years at Parker-Hannifan, GoodYear, and Mars Petcare.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents (Larry and Lynn Persinger). Dan is survived by his children Amy (Brandon) Davis, Lauren (Dena Benroth) Webb, Megan (Daniel Stidham) Persinger, Chelsea (Josh Caldwell) Persinger, Daniel (Kelsey) Persinger, and Ashley (Dustin) Lines, grandchildren Oceana, Liam, C**t, Jameson, Alexia, Kailyn, Harper, Kase, Ryley, Garret, Maddox, and Talon, girlfriend (Shelley Coe), and 3 brothers David (Terry) Persinger, Doug (Karen Stover) Persinger, and Dean Persinger)

Donald E. Vocca, age 89 of Marion, Ohio died peacefully at his residence on Saturday, July 26, 2025. He was born in Ashtabula, Ohio May 8, 1936, to the late Nicholas and Carmel (Fassula) Vocca.

Don is survived by his children Mark (Sarah) Vocca, Scott (Vicki) Vocca, Charleen Vocca; Stepson Jeffrey (Sheila) Moore, grandchildren Shannon (Randy) Duffield, Nicole (Kevin) Fisher, Kayleigh Vocca, Kendall Vocca, Caileigh Ellsworth, Taylor Leonard, Mackenzie (Erich) Smiddy, Meaghan Lewis and Dustin Moore, great grandchildren Scott, Ryan, Sawyer, Vincent, Hannah, Thor, Jay, Madalyn, Ryland, and Journee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Carmel Vocca, his wife Sally Vocca, sisters, Angelina Felix and Lucille Licata, brothers, John, Francis and Thomas Vocca.

Don and Sally enjoyed 39 wonderful years together and found enjoyment in traveling and taking trips in their RV with friends. Don enjoyed running in marathons, biking, golfing, woodworking and gardening, but he found the most enjoyment being around his family.

Don was a proud veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1955-1957, and was assigned to the 520th Engineers Company, Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. After his enlistment in the Army he was a crew member of the bulk freighter, E. G. Grace. He was a deckhand when the Grace became the first U.S. Flagged vessel to carry ore through the St Lawrence Seaway on June 4, 1959.

Don earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree from D**e College and his Master of Education from Kent State. Donald’s career spanned over 40 years working as a Plant Manager at Union Carbide as well as leading the Accounting and Finance Department for the Defense Finance Accounting Service (DFAS) in Columbus, Ohio. Don was a member of the American Legion, Post 107, in Pataskala, Ohio. He was a parishioner of the Church of the Ascension in Johnstown, Ohio and served in their chapter of the Knights of Columbus as a Fourth Degree Knight.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Compassus Hospice. The family would like to thank Cornerstone Caregiving and Compassus Hospice. Arrangements in the care of Affordable Cremation Services of Ohio.

Norma Jean Cooper, age 79 of Marion, OH passed away peacefully July 22, 2025, at Alesia and Joe Tackett's home. She was born September 12, 1945, to the late Vern and Gladys (Imboden) Plotner in Marion.

Norma is survived by Lifelong partner Roger "Buddy" Mount, children: Alesia (Joe) Tackett, Jerry Cooper, Charlene Cooper, Kenny Head, and George (Julie) Cooper, adopted daughter Alaya Murphy, grandchildren: Chloe Hunter Young, Kylie Tackett, Cole Tackett, Ambrose Tackett, Kaden Tackett, Mackenzie Tackett, Matthew Skellie, Aidan Skellie, Serenity Skellie, Sam Cooper, Coty Cox, and Logan Cox, great grandchildren: Emree Tackett and Winston Young, sisters: Ruthie Gates, Rosie Hamm, Sylvia Williams, Vonda Bails, brothers: Butch Plotner, Johnnie Imboden, Jimmie Imboden, and Lannie Imboden, and stepsister Jenny Collins. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Charles Cooper.

Norma worked at Marion Manor and just enjoyed life in general; as well as cooking, dancing, and singing. She adored her grandchildren and will be dearly missed by her entire family.

A Celebration of Life will be held August 2, 2025, at the Knights of Columbus of Marion, 1232 E Center St. Marion, OH 43302, from 2 pm-dusk. Please come and be a part of the last potluck dinner for Norma.

Holly Jan Gilbert, age 75, passed away at home July 3, 2025. Holly was born to the late Earl Harlan and Esther Clea (Wise) Shrader, December 31, 1949, in Marion, Ohio. Holly was preceded in death by her parents, son Jason Gilbert; siblings: Glen Eugene Shrader, Dennis Neal Shrader, Max Ramon Shrader, and Linda Kay Belt.

Holly is survived by children: Joshua Gilbert and Jeremy Gilbert; grandchildren: Rylee Gilbert and Brandon Gilbert; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Holly was a graduate of Marion Harding High School. Holly enjoyed working outside in her garden; she always had pets around the house that she adored as well, especially her cats. She enjoyed watching TV Shows like Survivor, and spending time with her friends and family. Holly was a part of the Westend Girls club, where they would meet once a month.

There will be a Celebration of Life service held at the Steve Young Memorial Lodge 24, 5327 St. Rt 309 E, Caledonia, Ohio, August 10th, 2025, from 1PM to 4PM, with catering from Holly’s favorite restaurant, House of Hunan. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Mark Todd Darling, age 70 of Caledonia, OH. Mark died at home July 20th, 2025. He was born February 19th, 1955, to the late Jack and Martha Darling in Marion. Mark is preceded in death by his parents and sister Jorja; and children, Jeremy Todd Darling, Derrick Eugene Darling, and Brandon Wayne Darling. Mark is survived by wife, Jamie "Wilson" Darling; daughter Stacey Wilson; brothers, Roger Darling and Jack Darling; and six beautiful grandchildren.

Mark loved spending time at home with his family. He had a love for being outdoors and frequently visited Wayne National Forest for hiking and ATV adventures. Mark enjoyed camping and loved every aspect of nature. Mark will always be remembered as 'The Shovel Man of Caledonia'. He will be greatly missed.

John Thomas Rutter, age 66 of Marion, OH, passed away July 4th, 2025, at Marion General Hospital. John was born to the late Harold and Peggy (Seymour) Rutter July 24, 1958. John was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Levaria Rutter and Rex Rutter.

John is survived by long time partner, Kathy Whitted; children, Keith (Tracey) Whitted, John (Pam) Rutter, Angel (JJ) Franklin, Tabi Ibarra, Robert Rutter, Amy (John Pilvelis) Whitted, Olvia Whitted, McKenna Whitted, and Paisley Whitted; siblings, Harold Jr. Rutter, Terry Rutter, Bob Rutter, and Theresa (Tim) Cox; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

John worked for several years with J.R. Lawn Care and was also self employed with different contract jobs most of his life. John was particular about his landscaping and took great pride in his yardwork. He loved riding his motorcycle, and his family had always been involved in the fair and carnival life. He loved bluegrass music and frequented the local Moose and other lodges in the Marion area with his friends.

Bradley Jay Gruber

Bradley Jay Gruber, Age 71 of Marion, OH passed away on July 14, 2025, at Marion General Hospital due to complications from a prolonged battle with Diabetes.

Brad was born on November 7, 1953, in Marion to Charles Gruber Sr. and Phyllis (Benson) Gruber. Brad was a proud 1972 Graduate of Marion Harding High School, frequently boasting his class as the largest graduating class in school history. He frequently spoke fondly of his childhood, growing up and playing sports with neighborhood friends on Lilac Lane.

Brad worked in varying fields throughout his life which included Erie Lackawanna Railroad, Star Lanes, the Marion and Mt. Vernon Moose Lodges, Lifelink Community Church and most recently, the fuel center at Kroger South in Marion. He was a life-long member of the Moose Lodge, serving as administrator of both Marion and Mt. Vernon Lodges and attaining Pilgrim Status in 2007.

An accomplished left-handed bowler, Brad compiled multiple perfect games and two 800 series in the course of his bowling career which was cut short due to injury. He was inducted into the Marion County Bowling Hall of Fame in 1998.

Brad will also be remembered for his love of New York Yankees baseball, rarely missing a game on the TV or radio. He was also an Ohio State fan and closely followed Marion Harding athletics.

The greatest source of pride for Brad was his family. He very much enjoyed family gatherings held on holidays and special occasions where he would captivate the room with his wit, charm, and humor. These are the characteristics that most will continue to remember, well after his passing.

Brad was preceded in death by his mother Phyllis, and father, Charles, as well as his brother, Charles Gruber Junior. Brad is survived by his sister, Lori Gruber and brother Joe (Wendi) Gruber and sister-in-law Becki Gruber. He is also survived by his son, Bradley J. Gruber II (B.J. and Jennifer) and his daughter, Andrea Gruber (Joel Kerlin).

Additionally, Brad leaves behind six grandchildren, Lauren (Doug) Isaly, Jace Withrow, Braden Gruber, K.C. Gruber, Kynleigh Howard and Finn Risner, as well as 3 great-grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews.

Final arrangements are being handled by Affordable Cremation Services of Marion. A Celebration of Life event will be held at Cooper’s Bowl, 191 Barks Rd. W, Marion, OH on Sunday August 3, 2025, from 2-5 pm.

Memorial contributions can be made in Brad’s name to the Marion Harding Athletic Boosters Fund.

Eva Jeanann Clegg, age 59 of Kenton, OH passed away July 11, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was born March 21, 1966, to the late Fred and Ruth (Gibson) Seitz in Kenton. Eva celebrated her 17th wedding anniversary July 4, 2025, with her one true love and best friend Steven Clegg, who survives in Kenton.

Eva is survived by her husband, children: Timothy Jones Jr. and Jennifer Jones, stepchildren: Kishna, Alisha, and Stephanie all from WV, grandchildren: Ryan Jones, Savannah Williams, and Brently and Levi Brightman, siblings: Victor "Butch" Hartise, Charlotte (Tim) Adams, Mary (JR Donall) Morrison, Brenda (Clyde) Howard, Jim (Pauline) Seitz, Ronnie (Angie) Seitz, and ex-husband Timothy Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Christopher Jones, and infant brother Little Freddy.

Eva enjoyed working as a cook for the Kenton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where all of her coworkers became endeared to her as family. She enjoyed music, fishing, shopping, and spending time with her husband, grandchildren, friends and family members.

Catherine "Kittie" May Nagel Schlecht, age 90 of Marion, OH was called home to heaven and passed away peacefully July 4, 2025. She was born June 17, 1935, in Caledonia, OH to the late Willard S Nagel and Mary (Sartin) Nagel.

Kittie was preceded in death by her adored husband of 69 years, Lowell Edwin Schlecht and brother Kennard Nicholas "Pinky" Nagel.

She is survived by sons: Mark (LeAnn) Schlecht of Marion and Todd (Anne) Schlecht of Salem, VA, 4 grandchildren: Chris (Erin) Schlecht, Kaylin (Tim) Ward, Erica (Conner) Trebour, and Holly Schlecht, and 9 treasured great-grandsons: Tyler, Ryan, and Drew Schlecht; Brooks, Paxton, Holden, and Cohen Ward; and Charles and Beckett Trebour.

Kittie began her career in advertising with Howard Swink Advertising in Marion. In 1981, she and Lowell relocated to North Carolina when Swink opened a new office. After retiring from advertising, she became the office manager for Lowell's plumbing business. The couple were avid outdoor enthusiasts and longtime members of the Piedmont Hiking and Outing Club. In 2014, they returned to Marion to be closer to family. We like to think of Lowell and Kittie dancing in heaven with their friends from the Hicks and Chicks Dance Club of Marion, OH.

Most importantly, Kittie will be remembered for her warmth, grace, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she shared.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Marion area Humane Society, 2264 Richland Rd. Marion, OH 43302, in loving memory of Kittie.

Rhonda Lynn Harbin passed away unexpectedly at Marion General Hospital surrounded by her loving family on July 9, 2025. Rhonda was born in Marion, OH on August 16, 1966, to Richard Dixon and Nancy Emery Dixon.

Rhonda was a 1984 graduate of Ridgedale High School where she was involved in cheerleading and marching band. After high school, she worked for GTE and then went into the banking industry for a number of years and finished her work career at Job and Family Services of Marion. In 1978 she met the love of her life Bobby Harbin by a chance meeting at a teen dance. They were together until 1983 when life took them on separate paths. They reunited in 2013 and were married on July 31, 2015.

Rhonda was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes' football fan. She would cheer them on every week dressed head to toe in OSU colors. Rhonda loved to travel; especially with her husband on their motorcycle. They would take yearly "Family Vacations" with their extended family members Jeff and Diana Hickman. Rhonda loved going to Karaoke with her husband at the OK Cafe'. It was their weekly date night.

Rhonda is survived by her mother Nancy Dixon, her loving husband Bobby, son Brian (Annie) Hecker, stepdaughters: Lacey (Ryan) Allen and Victoria (Kyle) Postell, grandchildren: Levi, Kennady, Jacob, Ava, Darby, Bentley, Lucas, Zachary, Nora, and Nate. She was preceded in death by her daughter Erica, father Richard, and brother Ricky.

A memorial remembrance will be held at the OK Cafe', 734 E Center St. in Marion from 6-8 pm on Wednesday July 30, 2025. Memorial contributions may be made to the Junior Service Guild Christmas Clearing House.
