Air Evac 35 recently had the opportunity to participate in a mock warrant ex*****on alongside the Illinois State Police, and what an incredible experience it was!

During this training scenario, our crew assisted with a simulated scene flight, working through the full process from arrival to patient transport. It was a great opportunity to demonstrate how we approach scene safety, coordinate with law enforcement, and safely prepare and transport patients by air.

We were able to walk the Illinois State Police through our procedures for:
• Establishing and securing a safe landing zone

• Assessing scene hazards for crew and aircraft safety

• Patient packaging and loading

• Communication and coordination between agencies

• Safe departure from the scene

Training exercises like this are invaluable. They give all agencies involved the chance to better understand each other’s roles, improve communication, and strengthen teamwork before real-world emergencies happen.

We had a great time working alongside the Illinois State Police and truly appreciated the opportunity to share our process while also learning from their operations. The collaboration and hands-on experience made this training both productive and enjoyable.

Thank you to everyone involved for making it such a success. We look forward to continuing to build strong partnerships that ultimately help us better serve our communities. 💛🚁

Today we pause and remember our Air Evac Lifeteam 122 crew.

We honor and remember Steven Fitzgerald, Russell Haslam, and Adam Tebben. Three incredible individuals who answered the call, dedicated their lives to helping others, and embodied what it truly means to serve. Their commitment, courage, and compassion will never be forgotten.

This loss is felt deeply across the aviation and EMS community. These men weren’t just crew members — they were teammates, friends, family, and heroes. Their impact lives on in every patient cared for, every flight launched, and every life touched by their service.

Clear skies and forever tailwinds. We fly with you in our hearts, honor you in our actions, and carry your legacy forward.🚁🚁

The year wasted no time letting us know it was ready to get to work! 🚁
We kicked things off busy and grateful.

Huge thank you too Lake Egypt Fire Protection District for the scene flight request this morning, and to Deaconess Illinois Medical Center for the transfer flight to Evansville, IN. We’re thankful for the trust, teamwork, and smooth handoffs that make these flights possible.

Busy days remind us why we do what we do, and we’re thankful for every call today — and curious to see what the rest of the day has in store for us. Most importantly, we’re incredibly grateful to our patients and their families for trusting us during some of their toughest moments. It’s an honor we never take lightly.

Here’s to starting the year doing what we love, serving those who need us most, and maybe squeezing in a cup of coffee when we can. 💛🚁

🎄❤️ This holiday season, our Air Evac Lifeteam crew had the pleasure of delivering Christmas baskets to our local hospitals. It was great catching up with so many familiar faces and sharing some holiday cheer. We hope everyone enjoyed the Christmas Tree Cakes!

We didn’t get photos with everyone, as many were busy doing what they do best caring for patients and saving lives. We are incredibly thankful for our hospital partners and the dedication they show every single day, especially during the holidays.

EMS deliveries are up next, and we’re looking forward to spreading even more Christmas cheer soon!

From all of us at Air Evac Lifeteam, we wish you a safe, happy, and healthy holiday season. 🚁🎄

🚁 Winter is settling in, and with it comes unique challenges for aviation — especially for medical aircraft like ours at Air Evac Lifeteam.
Even when the skies look clear from the ground, cold-weather conditions can create hazards that affect whether we’re able to launch safely.

One of the biggest winter concerns in aviation is icing.
Icing is the buildup of ice on an aircraft’s wings, rotor blades, engine components, or instruments. Even a small amount of ice can significantly affect performance by:

• altering aerodynamics
• decreasing lift and increasing drag
• reducing overall aircraft performance
• interfering with critical instruments
• decreasing engine power or causing potential damage

When does icing occur?
Icing can happen anytime the air temperature is 32°F (0°C) or colder and there is visible moisture present such as clouds, fog, rain, freezing drizzle, sleet, or snow.

Many icing events come from supercooled water droplets such as liquid moisture that remains unfrozen in freezing temperatures. When these droplets strike an aircraft, they freeze instantly, creating potentially dangerous ice buildup.

Even when the weather appears perfect from the ground, hazardous icing may exist at altitude or along the flight path.
That’s why our pilots conduct thorough weather evaluations before every mission and at times consult our Operational Control Center which consist of other pilots scanning the radar while we are out flying!

🚁 At Air Evac Lifeteam, safety isn’t just a priority—it’s our promise to our crews, our patients, and our requestors.
If you have a patient who may need air transport, please call us. Our crew will assess the conditions and make the safest decision for everyone involved. Your call allows us to explore every option safely and professionally.

We’re here for you all winter long — 24/7, whenever the need arises.
