Our hearts are heavy today as we keep our brothers and sisters at Vanderbilt LifeFlight in our thoughts and prayers following their recent helicopter crash. We are praying for their team members, families, and coworkers as they face this incredibly difficult time.

Though details are limited, please know that our entire Air Evac family stands beside the LifeFlight community — lifting them up in prayer and hoping for strength, comfort, and a full and speedy recovery for everyone involved.💛🚁

🎃👻 Spooktacular Thanks to the Lake of Egypt Fire Protection District! 🚒🕸️

We had such a fang-tastic time at your Trunk or Treat last night! Thank you for inviting us to join in on all the Halloween fun, from the awesome decorations to all the creative (and spooky!) costumes, it was a blast from start to finish! 🧡🖤

It was also great catching up with part of our Air Evac family, Senior AMT Phillip Glodo and his crew! We’re so thankful to be part of such a fun, welcoming community event.

Please keep praying for our friends and family with REACH Air Medical Services.🚁🙏

We are pleased to provide a positive update regarding our team members, Pilot Chad Millward and Paramedic Margaret "DeDe" Davis. Both continue to demonstrate substantial progress in their recovery and have moved to inpatient rehabilitation facilities—Chad was released from the hospital this week, while DeDe was discharged late last week.

The outpouring of compassion and concern from our community has been a source of strength for all those affected by this month's accident. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has kept our crew and their families in their thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.

As we celebrate the ongoing progress of Chad and DeDe, we also honor the memory of Susan “Suzie” Smith and recognize her remarkable contributions to our community. Information regarding Suzie’s memorial service may be shared by her family.

Meet Sundi. In 2000, she was looking for a place to put down roots, grow and have a long-term career. She found that at Air Evac Lifeteam and, 25 years later, is now working behind the scenes as a billing manager, a vital part of making a difference for our patients.

“Our patients have endured a major medical event when they are transported. I have the privilege of caring for them financially. Most of our patients don’t know how to navigate the billing process. That’s where I come in. Being able to relieve that burden for individuals dealing with the stress of recovery is rewarding.”

However, the care doesn’t stop on the front lines or even within the Revenue Cycle department. Sunni reflects on how being an Air Evac team member has directly impacted her family too, “My late husband, Mike Kelly, was the facilities manager. When he was battling cancer, the company showed their support for us in multiple ways. Some visited him in the hospital, which gave me a break to breathe. Some provided support and assistance to allow him to continue working for as long as he was able. We even watched our base locations update their Facebook profile pictures to this battle shirt design, showing support for him and our family. The outpouring of love was inspiring. So, this isn’t a job. This is [its own] family and a way of life.”

Sundi, we are forever humbled when we are able to give back to both our community and our family. Thank you for putting your trust in us and for making it possible for our patients to do the same every day.
