The first years got hands-on with Sensory Integration equipment in their pediatric intervention class! 👏

The students each made a concept map to learn more about a topic in Occupational Therapy! This was so fun and helped aid in understanding the themes and connections within each topic!

Hey everyone! SHARE THE NEWS, sleep services are coming to Ivy Kids Kokomo! IWU’s third year student Carissa is completing her capstone and we couldn’t be more proud! Virtual services are available AND all kiddos are invited so help share the word about receiving her services, you won’t regret it! See the above flyer and below for the details :)

The first workshop is on Feb 7 from 6-7pm and will focus on sleep basics & bedtime routine tips & tricks. All services are free at this time until she graduates and there will be a free giveaway at each workshop as well as a raffle for private/virtual session attendees!

In January, our new SOTA President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer will start their leadership terms! We cannot wait to see all that they accomplish and the opportunities that they will provide us during their leadership!

Tis the season 🎁

Last Friday, SOTA members made tie blankets to donate within the Grant Country Area! We had root beer floats and watched Home Alone!

Our 1st and 2nd years had an exciting weekend last weekend at the IOTA conference! We attended sessions that discussed sensory in the classroom, empowering mobility, overview of international occupational therapy, and NBCOT! We ended the day getting dinner at Bru Burger!

Thank you Dr. C for organizing and getting us to this event!

1st and 2nd years are getting hands on practice today! The 1st years are practicing manual muscle testing while the second years get hands on training on the Allen Cognitive Assessments! Thank you Dr. Campbell and Dr. Ford for sharing your expertise on the subjects!!

Thank you Dr. Storms for setting up a Graduate School Game night last week! It was a great way to connect with each other and step away from the stress of midterms!

We also got to spend time participating in inter-professional discussion! Focusing on the importance of ethics within the workplace! dpt

Second year students got to practice using electrical stimulation today! Learning how to prep patients for treatment using modalities is a great tool for future practice!

Our first SOTA event of the semester was a success! First and second years played classic Wii games, Dutch blitz, codenames, and more on Friday night! It was so much fun to get to know everyone better and step away from the stress of the semester!

Some of the first year students helped at event in Fort Wayne called Endeavor Games!

Here they helped at different competitions retrieving and setting up equipment each round. They loved talking with the athletes and hearing about their experiences from other competitions and throughout life!
