🦋 Remember Livi?! When Olivia, “Livi”, made her entrance into the world at 2:58 am on June 24, 2018, it was only a few hours later that doctors were telling her parents that she had several markers for Down syndrome. Upon confirmation of the diagnosis, Livi's journey with the incredible team here at Nationwide Children's began.

Since we last shared her story, Livi has had another ear-tube surgery that has improved her hearing. She started kindergarten where she is loving making new friends! Livi also continues to love dancing and trips to her favorite place: Cedar Point.

Read Livi's incredible story and help 'Light Up the Lawn' and light up the lives of patients like her this holiday season ➡️ https://bit.ly/4fFvVQz.

💜 Meet Gabe.

Gabe was born on July 12, 2024 at 25 weeks and four days gestation, weighing just two pounds. He was admitted to the NICU at his birth hospital to become strong enough to go home. Luckily for Gabe’s mom, Grace, his birth hospital was also her place of work.

“Having him nearby was a comfort,” Grace recalls. “It allowed me to visit him frequently even after I returned to work.”

When Gabe needed a PICC line, a long, thin tube inserted through a vein in the arm that helps carry nutrients and medicine into the body, his doctors suggested moving him to Nationwide Children's Hospital.

“The distance made it harder to see him,” shares Grace. “But I knew the transfer was necessary for his care.”

Since arriving at Nationwide Children’s, Gabe has made great strides. He recently passed the 40-week milestone, and his care team anticipates he’ll be home for the holidays.

“The care he’s received has been incredible,” says Grace. “All of the amazing nurses have been there every step of the way, and we’re so grateful for the doctors’ expertise and support.”

Gabe also has the support of many therapists, including speech, respiratory and lactation, who are helping him reach important growth milestones.

“This journey has not been easy,” Grace shares. “But it has been filled with moments of triumph.”
