🎁 Dirty Santa = BIG laughs, surprise steals, and lots of holiday cheer! 🎄

Our SHINE Family and SHINE Crew had an absolute blast at yesterday’s Dirty Santa gift exchange. From hilarious steals to unexpected favorites, this one was definitely a hit! Thanks to everyone who joined in and made it such a fun, festive day. ✨

🎄✨ The Magic continued at SHINE ✨🎄

On Tuesday evening, SHINE welcomed our Golden Ticket guests for a special visit to Santa’s Toy Shop. These Exceptional Children received their golden tickets after not being able to attend with their schools on Friday, and we were so excited to give them a magical experience ❤️

They met Santa, picked out a toy to take home, wrote last minute letters to Santa, and enjoyed exploring our day program spaces including our Lego center, music center, game center, and more. Every smile and moment reminded us why this season is so special ✨

We are truly blessed to be able to offer events like this to our community and we look forward to continuing to serve and support
McDowell County Schools in many more ways in the future.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible SHINE crew who made this event possible. A special thank you to Alexis Hunter for spearheading this magical experience, Brian Kaylor for bringing Santa to life, and all of our staff who helped make the night so memorable 🎅🎁

❄️💙 SHINE IS TAKING THE Polar Plunge 💙❄️

When SHINE shows up, we go all in even in the cold 🥶

Our SHINE Support Services team is proud to be participating in the 2026 Polar Plunge to support Special Olympics McDowell County and the incredible athletes who inspire us every day!

Thanks to the generosity of our community we have already raised 100 dollars toward our goal and we are just getting started.

Every donation helps provide year round sports training, competition leadership opportunities, and health services for Special Olympics athletes right here in our community.

🎄✨ Visit to SHINE’S Toy Shop ✨🎄

On Friday, SHINE transformed into Santa’s Toy Shop for the Exceptional Children of McDowell County Schools! Students from Pleasant Gardens Elementary School and West Marion Elementary School spent the day crafting, enjoying cookies and cupcakes from Ms Clause, writing last minute letters to Santa, taking pictures with Santa himself, and choosing a special gift to be wrapped by Santa’s elves 🎁

And the magic isn’t over yet…
Students who weren’t able to join us Friday were sent home with “golden tickets” and will get to experience the very same Santa’s Toy Shop magic on Tuesday 5pm-7pm, December 16th ✨🎟️

We are so grateful to share this season of giving, inclusion, and community with these amazing kids. Christmas at SHINE is all about creating memories that last 🎄💫

Our SHINE family spent time with Ashli Nicole
Ashli, Kainen Pritchard, and Amanda Pendley making stockings filled with essentials and handwritten Christmas cards to share warmth, kindness, and hope with our homeless neighbors. This is what the season is truly about showing up for others with compassion and love. We are so proud of our SHINE family for giving from the heart. 🎄✨

🎉 Employee of the Month Nelson Lorenzo 🎉

Nelson truly goes above and beyond every single day. Not only does he excel at his role as a DSP, but he also pours his heart into creating custom builds for our day program. A person who wont hesitate to make experiences better, more engaging, and more meaningful for our SHINE family.

Nelson is one of the most compassionate, understanding, and genuine people you’ll ever meet. He’s deeply loved and adored by both our SHINE family and SHINE crew. Whether he’s offering great advice, making everyone laugh, or lifting the room with his positive energy, Nelson has a way of showing up exactly when he’s needed.

We are beyond grateful for his huge heart, dedication, and unwavering commitment to those we serve.

Our SHINE family had their very first caroling gig at Rose Hill yesterday and they absolutely SHINED! 🎅🎶

They sang their hearts out, spread so much Christmas cheer, and made us all incredibly proud.

A huge thank you to Theresa, Kisha, Tasha, and Darlene for supporting, guiding, and singing right alongside them. ❤️✨

Today we’re celebrating one of the biggest personalities in our SHINE family Cameron Houser! If you’ve ever spent even five minutes with Cameron, you already know… the laughs are nonstop and the good vibes are guaranteed.

He’s a true charmer, a natural comedian, and someone who can brighten any room just by being himself.

💙 Stylist Spotlight: Hannah Ferguson 💙

We want to give a special shoutout to someone who always takes such great care of our SHINE family when they’re in her chair! ✨ Hannah Ferguson at The Hair Beautique is the sweetest and most accommodating! She is always ready for anything when our SHINE family walks through the door.

A few weeks ago, she braided Victoria’s hair and added the cutest unicorn bow 🦄 and today she worked her magic again by straightening it. Hannah’s patience, kindness, and heart truly make every visit feel special.

If you’re looking for an amazing hairstylist, Hannah is absolutely someone we recommend booking! 💇‍♀️💖
