Family Optometry - Marion

Family Optometry - Marion Family Optometry proudly serves the Marion area with quality eye care services and a friendly staff since 1976.

Family Optometry is an experienced and helpful team of eye care professionals dedicated to meeting your eye health needs. Whether you need fitted with glasses or contact lenses, or evaluated for eye disease such as glaucoma or macular degeneration, our practice utilizes the lasted technology and treatments available. Family Optometry was founded by Dr. Robert Hutchinson in Marion in 1976, and was known as Marion Family Optometrists. In 1994, he began an office in Wabash, known as Family Optometry. In early 2015, the Marion office also assumed the Family Optometry name. Dr. Hutchinson operated both the Marion and Wabash offices by himself until Dr. Dale joined him in 2007. From the beginning, Family Optometry was guided by Dr. Hutchinson’s convictions that people are more important than money, that all patients deserve to be treated like family, and that the office should be a fun place for both staff and patients. While Dr. Hutchinson was sadly lost to cancer in August 2014, Family Optometry continues to operate upon those principals he valued. In September 2014, Dr. Ashley Yearling joined Dr. Dale, and in August 2015, they were joined by Dr. Jack Derby. Together, they remain committed to providing caring, affordable, high quality eye care for families in their communities. In September 2016, a third office was opened in Peru.

It is never safe to look directly at the sun's rays even if the sun is partly obscured because they contain harmful ultraviolet and infrared rays that can damage your eye's retina and even cause blindness.

Prepare your eyeballs for the upcoming solar eclipse! Don't risk retinal burns! There is no treatment for solar retinopathy. We're selling ISO certified eclipse glasses for $3 per pair. You can stop in during our normal business hours to purchase them.
Make sure that the lenses aren’t scratched, torn, or punctured, and that they aren’t coming loose from the cardboard frame. If your solar eclipse glasses are in poor condition, don’t use them.

It's spooky season! Be sure to take good care of your eyes by being cautious with NON-PRESCRIPTION costume contact lenses.

Although costume lenses may not alter your vision, they are medical devices that require a prescription through consultation with an eye doctor. In fact, it is illegal for retailers to sell contact lenses without a prescription.

Poorly fit or improperly cleaned contact lenses can cause damage to the eye or vision. These lenses can create a lack of air flow and bacteria or deposit buildup, and friction from the lens material can result in issues such as:

Cuts and scratches to the cornea
Corneal ulcers
Eye infections
Allergic reactions
Irreversible decrease or loss of vision
