History of Hope
Washington Street Hope Center was incorporated on July 25, 1988, for the purpose of providing a meeting facility for all substance abusers seeking help. It is the intent of the Board of Directors to work closely with the Department of Health and Hospitals, Office of Addictive Disorders, to provide a therapeutic atmosphere conducive to recovery.
Addiction to alcohol and other substances is a treatable disease which affects family, friends and society in general. Our goal is to help the individual lead a normal, sober and productive life. The vehicle used to accomplish this goal is the step-by-step program outlined by Bill W. and the group of forty in the Big Book “Alcoholics Anonymous”.
