Thank you to everyone who commented and messaged after my post about stress responses—it’s clear so many of us are craving calmer days and a little more nervous system support.

If you're a mom who often feels reactive, shut down, or just exhausted from trying to stay “regulated” while juggling everything, I’m hosting a live workshop on Friday, August 22nd:

🌀 The Body Knows: A Somatic Skills Workshop for Stressed-Out Moms
📍 90 minutes on Zoom
📚 Hands-on practices to help you feel less triggered + more grounded
❌ Not therapy—just real tools for real-life mom moments

If that sounds like something you’d want in your back pocket, I’d love for you to join me. Just comment or DM me and I’ll send you the link 💛

Moms, can we normalize something?

You’re not broken because you get overwhelmed.
You’re not failing because your toddler’s meltdown makes you want to scream too.

Often, what we think is a “parenting issue” is actually a nervous system issue.
Your body is responding to pressure, noise, and chaos in the way it was wired to—especially if no one taught you how to reset it.

We can’t always control what our kids do…
But we can learn to work with our own nervous system so we show up the way we want to.

If this hits home, I have something beautiful I’m offering soon (specifically for moms who feel this). Let me know if you’d like me to tag you when I share more 💛

One of my favorite “in-the-moment” resets when mom life gets loud:

🌬️ Inhale slowly through your nose for 4 counts
🫁 Exhale longer through your mouth for 6 counts
👣 Press your feet into the floor
🧠 Name 3 things you see in the room

That’s it.
Nothing fancy, no crystals or yoga pants required. Just a tiny check-in to let your body know: You’re here. You’re safe.

We talk so much about staying calm—but most of us were never taught how.
Want more tips like this? I’ve been putting together some ideas to share soon. Let me know if you’d want them!

I love this quote. I believe in the drive we each have to move toward healing and flourishing. You are not your symptoms. You are wired for self-righting. This is the place to begin. Knowing this is at the heart of the work I do with my clients.

I am so excited to share this online experiential workshop for stressed-out moms so they can stop reacting and living with regret and can still show up for everyone else.

You hold space for everyone else and everything gets stuffed down inside of you all day. All the worry, anger, pressure, non-stop motion...and then something happens. It feels like you just snap. Then you fall into deep regret. You don't want to be triggered and react but it feels like your head is going to explode and you can't stop it.

I created something I wish I had as a mom of little ones. I will guide you through understanding what is happening to your nervous system and share the small things you can do for yourself to get relief, feel more present and help you respond instead of react to the chaos. These are things I learned as a mom and as a therapist and I want to share it with you. I will guide you through new skills and then help you learn how to incorporate it into your life.

I am hosting this workshop on Eventbrite on August 22nd, 12-1:30pm EST. Click on the link to get more information and to register. Please share this with another mama who can use this.

Hey, mama. Stressed and stretched thin? Learn body-based tools to regulate your nervous system and feel more in control.

I was so excited to meet this fabulous therapist who is working with kids and young adults in the area of executive functioning skills. It can be so hard for parents to deal with those missing assignments and disorganization that our kids have so I think Sandy's support is outstanding in this area. I can't say enough great things about her!

Endorsements like these just make my heart sing...

If someone is looking for a trauma-informed therapist in New Jersey—especially one who offers a heart-centered, empowering approach—I would absolutely recommend Toni Teixeira.

Toni blends deep clinical expertise with genuine compassion. Her work focuses on helping adults heal from childhood trauma and shift painful patterns, especially in relationships and parenting. She integrates somatic therapy, so her clients not only talk about their pain—they learn how to release it from their bodies.

Clients who feel overwhelmed, dysregulated, or stuck in people-pleasing or anger cycles often find relief and clarity in working with her. And since she offers virtual therapy in NJ and PA, support is just a click away.

She’s the kind of therapist who makes you feel seen, not judged—who helps you reclaim your story and create change that lasts.

Our brains adapt. They helped us adapt to stay safe when we were faced with trauma. We can help our brains adapt to safety. With therapy, and working through feelings and in the therapeutic relationship to foster safety, we can bring ourselves back to the "here and now."

Last year if you would have told me that in a year I still would not be running I would have been really angry. So it's a good thing I didn't know.

Living with a nagging injury stinks but it has taught me to be kinder to myself. My new mantra is "if I can't run, walk. " This is my new normal for now and slowing down is what I need to do. Heck, I broke my finger last year too so the universe was definitely screaming at me to slow down.

I don't know if you needed to hear this today, but chances are you are right where you need to be. Look for the gifts and you will find them.

Soothing the panicky thoughts

We all live with pain. We lose. We hurt. We grieve. We suffer. I am just like you. I have not lived this life unscathed.

In my journey, I have realized there is so little we actually have control over. We twist the thoughts and worry over and over in our minds as if we can change something if we hold tight to our thoughts. In some ways, it’s all we got.

That very tight grip, that twisting of thoughts over and over, is actually doing more harm than good. It causes us to suffer even more. It sends us under the covers or into the refrigerator looking for comfort. It sends us into arms of the wrong person or into a “safe” job. It limits us, our choices, and our freedom to be who we want to be.

We become unhappy and hate everything about ourselves and our lives. We blame the stuff that is happening around us and to us. We crave perfect order, but are paralyzed to move forward. We feel like we have no control and have been hijacked by our thoughts and our heart-pounding, shaky-all-over, panicky, sick-to-the-stomach feeling in our body.
