optomap Ultra-widefield, high resolution digital images capturing 82% or 200 degrees of the retina The exam is quick, painless, and may not require dilation drops.

optomap is used by eye care professionals to get an ultra-widefield view of the retina (the back of the eye). While eye exams generally include a look at the front of the eye to evaluate health and prescription changes, a thorough screening of the retina is critical to verify that your eye is healthy. This can lead to early detection of common diseases, such as glaucoma, diabetes, macular degeneration, and even cancer.

👁️ A Life-Saving Discovery 👁️

Chemical Engineer, Investment Analyst, Author, and Journalist, Robert Rapier, encourages all of us, including our doctors, to "spread the awareness" of the importance of regular eye exams that include retinal imaging.

When he noticed some vision changes, he went to his optometrist who encouraged an optomap image of his retina. His early symptoms along with optomap, were the first steps in saving his sight and saving his life.

When committing to daily sun-safe practices, the risk of vision loss decreases. Since many eye issues begin without symptoms, comprehensive eye exams are vital to early detection and diagnoses of eye conditions and diseases.

Like a beach hat’s brim, bigger is better, and an optomap image shows 82% or 200 degrees of the retina in one capture, in less than a second.

Many eye disorders can be fixed, slowed and/or reversed but the earlier the detection often relates to the better the outcome.

On Monday, April 8th, a solar eclipse will be viewable primarily from Mexico through the United States and parts of Canada. While it will most likely be a memorable experience, it's important to take proper safety precautions to prevent serious eye injury.
Exposing your eyes to the sun without proper eye protection during a solar eclipse may cause “eclipse blindness” or retinal burns, also known as solar retinopathy. We recommend you talk with a professional to determine the best way to be safe while viewing the event.

If you believe that you may have overexposed your eyes during the eclipse we recommend finding an eye care professional to evaluate your retina with optomap as part of the exam. A full listing of these eye care professionals can be found at www.optomap.com. Wishing everyone a spectacular, captivating, and safe eclipse.
