For those of you who don't know me and my history, here is my bio, thank you for reading this, its long.
My name is Lena Cobuzzi Winston and I am the chairperson for the Celebration of Wellness Fair being held at UMass Boston on Sunday Sept 28, 2025. I'm representing Real Kids Real Food, which is a non profit that helps kids and families learn about real food and get resources to healthy living. It is a great organization and all proceeds from the fair and the raffle will go directly to this non profit. I'm also working with the nonprofit Hippocrates Wellness because of the impact it has made on my health and my life, and they will be donating their services and proceeds from sales that day to Real Kids Real Food as well.
So, here is my story...
I'm 57 years old this year, and when I was 38 years old after the birth of my 3rd child, a scan incidentally found cancer in one of my lungs. Because I was a non smoker, I was able to have the entire lobe of my lung removed. I was cancer free for 6 years, and then a spread to another lobe and then my bone appeared. At the point it was Stage 4 and I was started on an oral chemotherapy called targeted therapy. Because it was new medication there was a lot of toxicity, and I had a lot of side effects. I was told that this would be the medication that would stop further progression for a while, and that was 11 years ago.
Because the side effects weren't tolerable (huge digestive and skin issues), I went to the Cancer Wellness Program in Jan. 2014 at Hippocrates Wellness in West Palm Beach Florida. In the 3 weeks I was there, I detoxed from sugar, meat, dairy, and learned about food and supplements that restored my gut, fed it enzyme enriched foods, got my body out of fight or flight mode, and got my health and vitality back. The side effects from the medication went away, and suddenly I could tolerate it. It was in that moment, I realized that food IS medicine and that self care and less stress was the message that cancer was teaching me!
Here I am 11 years later since the Stage 4 diagnosis and I am so grateful. For me, Hippocrates is the healthiest place on Earth and going back sporatically is inspiring and a good re-set.
Many healthy people go to Hippocrates. You don't have to be sick to go. Many people go with no illness at all, some with Diabetes, high cholesterol, weight issues, autoimmune issues, and see the difference in their bodies with labs they take at the beginning and end of their time there...and their life transforms with more energy and vitality.
The Celebration of Wellness Fair will be a mini-Hippocrates Wellness experience, and I would love for people who know me want to come and find out what I've been talking about, and those who want to learn and try the vegan healthy lifestyle for the day will come too!
