““Mindfulness is a type of meditation in which you focus on being intensely aware of what you're sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment. Practicing mindfulness involves breathing methods, guided imagery, and other practices to relax the body and mind and help reduce stress.”
This is the exact definition of “mindfulness practice”.
THE MOST important part:
“being intensely aware of what you're sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment”
This can be done ANYTIME. ANYWHERE. Any position, any place, literally implement into everything.
The key for me, is to pause, and redirect your mind to this moment.
This morning while I was making tea, I like to put the honey first, then the hot water. Give that a stir, and when the honey is fully melted, I take note of the golden color the water has become. I sniff that honey sweet goodness, before adding my tangerine tea bag. Then I give the bag a few dunks, and waft that aroma, of tangerine and honey. BAM a smile breaks upon my face, and a calmness floods my body before even taking a sip. Then I get to sip, and a whole new emotion bursts inside of me. Sparks of excitement, sweetness, citrus lifting deliciousness!
THAT right there, is a form of meditation.
I like to implement this tea scenario, into everything I do. The moment my mind strays, I make a mistake with what I’m doing right in front of me, or stub my toe, or drop something. Instant karma for a mindfulness coach 😆
This proves to me the power of mindfulness, the power of attention, the power of focus.
Try this simple practice inside of your day today. A great place to start, is with your foods and drinks. Because with that, you have all encompassing smells, tastes, textures, visuals and more.
An easy way to get your mind trained into mindfulness is by incorporating each of your senses, bringing you fully into what’s in front of you.
This is also a great grounding practice and anxiety attack relieving practice.
ACTIVATE THE SENSES.
DEACTIVATE THE STRESS.
