Did you know physical symptoms can run much deeper than what we perceive on the surface? Medications or talking about an issue is not always enough to address the problem. Emotions play a big part in our physical and mental health.

Relationship issues, injury, trauma, stress can all play a factor in our well being. On the surface we may present one way , but deep down our body may be asking for help. Sometimes there are emotions we are holding on to subconsciously and do not even realize it.

Emotions help guide us in life decisions. If we suppress our feelings , they can get stuck in our tissue and cause the body to contract. If we don’t fully process them, pain and dysfunction can set in.

Sitting with our emotions can be uncomfortable. Telling ourselves we are ā€œfineā€ or ā€œover it ā€œ is not always enough.

We must feel in order to heal.

Myofascial release is a great way to release stored emotion through movement. Unlock the trapped energy in your body and start living as your true self !

Healing is a journey.✨

Patients often make the comment ā€œfix meā€ when they come to physical therapy with persistent pain, as if they are broken. The truth is we are not objects that need to be put back together. We are human beings with emotions and a soul that have been through different experiences.

When our body has endured trauma, injury, or emotional stress , it can take time for the body to process it. At the time of the event or situation, the body is just trying to survive. Emotions can get put aside and stored in our tissue. Our higher self may not realize the situation is over and we can continue to carry it with us in life . This can result in pain or dysfunction within the body.

Myofascial release helps you release that stored energy to reconnect with your true self. Healing can go in waves. Some days may feel better than others and that is okay. It’s important to remember that even small steps can go a long way. If you or someone you know is dealing with pain , call for a consultation today!

It is so easy to reach for the quick fix when dealing with pain or discomfort. Traditional medicine has its time and place, but what if you start to listen to the signals your body is showing you? What if you can learn how to use its own healing properties to stay healthy before dis-ease starts to arise ?

Something we need to do to live, yet sometimes don’t pay much attention to.

Our breath is a simple tool we can use to help control how we are feeling. We get so focused on tasks that sometimes we forget to breathe. Taking shorter shallow breaths or holding our breath sends a signal to our body we are not safe which can create more tension, stress, and increase pain.

When dealing with tension or pain , breath awareness is a great place to start. Just notice a few times during the day how you are breathing.

Are you holding your breath? is it shallow or deep? through your nose or mouth? You may be surprised at the results. Subtle lifestyle changes can make big changes in our everyday lives and how we are feeling.

There are many breathing techniques to help calm the body.

One method to try is taking longer smoother breaths in and out. Fully exhaling before taking the next inhale . Think slowing down the breath, not necessarily taking a forced deeper one.

All too often I hear ā€œit’s old ageā€ or ā€œ don’t get oldā€ in response to how someone is feeling . The aging process is inevitable, but we have a choice as to how we age. Exercise is known to have benefits for both the mind and body. It doesn’t always have to be in a structured setting like a class or in the gym.

Doing an activity you enjoy allows your inner child to play. We sometimes get so focused on life’s responsibilities that we forget to have fun.

When was the last time you went on a bike ride ? danced to your favorite song ? swung on a swing ? or went for a hike ?

There are endless things you can do to stay active and find joy. Age is a number. We are really just as young as we feel.

Fascial Restrictions present differently in everyone as well all have different experiences. When two people have the same diagnosis, it does not mean they need the same treatment.

A diagnosis is a label for symptoms. Symptoms are a signal from your body that something needs attention. It is important to get to the root cause of the issue in order to feel better and have long lasting results.

FASCIA✨ an important system for the function and overall health of the body.

It is the immediate environment of our cells surrounding every organ, muscle, nerve, bone, and blood vessel. It is a three dimensional web of tissue that is continuous from head to toe. Trauma, inflammatory responses, emotional stress, or habitual poor posture can cause a binding down of the fascia resulting in pain or dysfunction. Since it is continuous, when one area is affected it impacts other parts of the body which can result in unrelated symptoms. Fascial restrictions are not seen on standard imaging including CT scans, MRI, and xrays which can make it difficult to diagnose.

Myofascial release is a gentle hands on approach to help with pain and dysfunction within the body. Trauma, surgery, inflammation, emotional stress, or habitual poor posture can lead to fascial restrictions resulting in tension on pain sensitive structures. Gentle sustained pressure is held for a longer period of time to lengthen the fascia. Myofascial release addresses the whole mind body complex to find the root cause of pain or dysfunction and restore balance.
