Kanawha County Issues a State of Preparedness for Incoming Winter Storm

Charleston, W.Va. – The Kanawha County Commission has issued a State of Preparedness due to an incoming winter storm this weekend.

What to expect: the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Kanawha County and surrounding areas in effect from Saturday, January 24th through Monday, January 26th. Significant snow accumulation is expected.

The Kanawha County Commission is keeping the Emergency Operations Center prepared and ready to activate if necessary.

Citizens are asked to stay vigilant and take all precautions including limiting travel when possible, keeping an emergency supply kit in your home and in your car, and bringing pets indoors. Check on elderly neighbors. Use proper safety with portable heaters. Watch local news and radio for updates. Follow Kanawha County on social media for additional updates.
