A Reminder from Our FBS Couples Therapist, Jamie 🤝

Healthy communication doesn’t mean never arguing.

It means learning how to:
• stay respectful during conflict
• pause when emotions become overwhelming
• repair after misunderstandings
• remain curious about each other, even during hard moments

Relationships don’t need perfection to grow.

They need space for honesty, accountability, and reconnection.

Jamie is currently accepting new couples therapy clients at FBS.

🎉 Celebrating 1 Year with FBS! 🎉

We are excited to celebrate Emily Garde’s 1-year work anniversary with Functional Behavior Services!

Emily joined the FBS team from Arizona after earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, and quickly became an important part of our ABA team. As an ABA Client Care Coordinator, Emily plays a vital role in supporting communication between our families and staff, helping ensure all of our clients receive the best possible care and support.

Over the past year, Emily’s radiant energy and enthusiasm have made a lasting impact within our clinic. Our learners sincerely look forward to the time they get to spend with her, and her positive presence continues to brighten each day at FBS.

We are incredibly grateful for Emily’s ambition, dedication, and compassion throughout this past year, and we look forward to many more years ahead with her on our team.

Congratulations, Emily, on 1 amazing year with FBS! 💙

Continuing our highlight of the engaging therapy activities available here at Functional Behavior Services, today we’re featuring some of the outdoor activities that many of our clients enjoy incorporating into their sessions. ☀️

Just like the indoor activities we shared last week, these hands-on outdoor experiences help children learn, connect, and build skills in a way that feels natural and enjoyable. Many children are more engaged and motivated when movement, play, and fresh air are incorporated into sessions, helping therapy feel both comfortable and fun.

Our outdoor space includes activities such as a basketball hoop, scooters, swings, a sandbox, playground equipment, yard games, sidewalk chalk, and open areas for walking while talking. We also have quiet outdoor spaces where children can sit and play a board game, complete a craft, or simply enjoy a calm environment during their session.

Having access to a peaceful outdoor setting attached to our clinic can also create natural opportunities for exposure-based activities, depending on each client’s individual goals and needs.

If you’re interested in learning more about the personalized and interactive therapy approaches we offer at FBS, give us a call at 906-273-1121 ext. 1007 or email us at info@fbsmi.com.

At Functional Behavior Services, we believe therapy should feel welcoming, engaging, and comfortable for every child. That’s why we incorporate a variety of fun indoor activities into our therapy spaces to help sessions feel interactive while still supporting meaningful growth and learning.

Each therapist personalizes sessions to fit the unique needs and interests of their clients. Some children are drawn to creative activities like drawing, coloring, or crafts, while others enjoy reading books, building with Legos, playing games, or imaginative play. These hands-on activities can help children feel more relaxed, stay engaged, and better apply the skills they are learning during therapy sessions.

Inside our clinic, children have access to storybooks, board games, video games, Foosball, Legos, toy cars, foam building blocks, Barbies and dolls, an indoor swing, and many other interactive activities that help make therapy both supportive and fun.

Stay tuned next week as we highlight some of the outdoor activities we have available this time of year! ☀️

If you think this type of therapy environment could benefit your child, give us a call at 906-273-1121 ext. 1007 or email us at info@fbsmi.com.

Starting therapy earlier doesn’t mean something is “wrong” with you.

It means choosing support before burnout, clarity before crisis, and growth before survival mode. You don’t have to wait until life falls apart to deserve help. 🤍

Therapy has many benefits such as:
• Learning healthier patterns
• Understanding yourself better
• Processing past experiences
• Improving relationships
• Creating peace instead of constantly coping

The sooner you start, the sooner healing stops being something “future you” has to carry alone.

If you have been wanting to see what therapy is all about, the time is now! ✨

🎉 Celebrating 4 Years with FBS! 🎉

We are proud to celebrate Morgan Gardner’s 4-year work anniversary with Functional Behavior Services!

Morgan has had an incredible year filled with accomplishments, including graduating from Northern Michigan University earlier this month with her Master’s Degree in Behavior Analysis. We are so proud of all she has achieved!

Over the past four years, Morgan has served as one of our dedicated BCaBA contracted CMH providers, making a meaningful impact in the lives of the learners and families she supports. Currently commuting to Wakefield to provide exceptional ABA services, her commitment, compassion, and dedication continue to enhance the quality of life for those she works with every day.

As Morgan prepares for her BCBA exam, we are excited to continue supporting her in this next chapter of her journey. Her future is incredibly bright, and we are grateful to have her as part of the FBS team.

Congratulations, Morgan, on 4 amazing years with FBS! 💙

Happy Mental Health Providers Day!

Lighting the way together. 🕯️

A candle represents life, hope, & transformation — symbolizing how we illuminate darkness through positive actions, highlighting the transience of life (burning out), the need for boundaries (burning too fast), & the capacity to share light without losing brightness.

Today, we celebrate our FBS clinicians and the light they bring to others each day. ✨

✨ Our clinicians:
• Amy D. – Therapist (LPC)
• Chelsea – Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
• Chiara – Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
• Jordan – Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
• Leslie – Therapist (LMSW)
• Morgan – Behavior Analyst (BCaBA)
• Whitney – Therapist (LLMSW)
• Zoe – Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

✨ Continuing their clinical journey:
• Jamie – Pre-licensed Therapist (LLMSW soon)
• Ally – Behavior Analyst (testing soon)
