Let's just say that was the worst behavior I have ever seen him have at an appointment. Almost 2 hours of refusing and screaming.

Turns out my calling in life is stomach flu triage. WHO KNEW!?!?!

3 of my kids + 2 nieces = 5 little patients, 1 tired auntie/mom, and zero clean towels left.

OH and I had an adult patient for a day but he just slept and doesnt wear diapers ....phew

We split up the house to keep the healthy kids and adult safe, which means I’m on round-the-clock puke patrol over here. It’s Pedialyte, popsicles, lukewarm washcloths, puke tubs by every seat, and more Lysol than I knew existed. I’ve washed the same sheets 3 times today and I’m pretty sure I dream in the smell of bleach now.

It’s stressful. It’s messy. I’m running on red bull and dry crackers because that’s all my stomach can handle after being covered in poo and puke. Some moments I’ve cried from exhaustion, not gonna lie. Hits you hard at 2am when you just fell back asleep and you hear the unmistakable sound of a gag or a diaper explosion.

But then one of them reaches for my hand at 2am, or whispers “thanks auntie” after I change their puke bucket for the 4th time. When their fever finally breaks and they give you that tiny, worn-out smile. When they fall asleep on your chest because you’re the safest place they know.

That’s the reward. That’s the part that fills you up even when you’re empty.

Wouldn’t trade these kids for the world. Okay I’d trade the laundry, and maybe the 2am wakeups. But not them. Never them.

To all the mamas, aunties, dads and caregivers in the trenches this week: I see you. You’re doing holy work. We’re gross, we’re tired, but we’re showing up. And that matters. This too will pass.

We are so very proud of you! The long hours, the headaches, the stress, you persevered!
Now you're days away from graduation !!! Can't wait to watch you accept your degree!

Congratulations to Megan #2 on completing her final clinical. It's a bittersweet moment as we're sad to see her go, but excited for her future endeavors. Thank you for allowing us to play a role in your professional journey!
