CALL TO ACTION: Protect Full Funding for Superior Alliance for Independent Living and Michigan’s Centers for Independent Living
On August 27, the Michigan House of Representatives passed a proposed budget that would significantly reduce funding for Centers for Independent Living (CILs) across the state—cutting nearly $8 million from the originally proposed $19.7 million budget supported by the Senate and Governor Whitmer. The House’s current proposal offers only $11 million in funding.

If enacted, these cuts would have a lasting and harmful impact on services for people with disabilities, including:

· A reduction in essential support services for thousands of Michigan residents with disabilities
· Increased risk of institutionalization due to a lack of community-based resources
· Fewer opportunities for people with disabilities to access employment and education
· Increased strain on advocacy and support staff due to higher caseloads
What You Can Do:
· Contact your legislators and urge them to support full funding for Michigan CILs
· Spread the word within your community
· Advocate for inclusion, independence, and equal access for people with disabilities.

While the budget process is ongoing, this proposed cut puts critical services at risk.

Your voice can help ensure that people with disabilities continue to receive the support they need to live independently and fully participate in their communities.

Please call your legislators and share how SAIL has impacted you and your community.

Act now to protect this vital funding.

Homelessness is rising — and so is the need for support.
In 2024, RATI provided services to over 250 individuals and families facing homelessness or housing instability. Our shelter is full every night, and more than 60 people rely on daily services at our Warming Center.

What began as neighbors responding to a crisis has grown into a vital, community-led safety net. Despite funding challenges, we've grown to meet the need with a Family Shelter and a Permanent Supportive Housing Program - created with local support.

This impact can only happen when the community shows up. We hope to see you then! 🏠❤
