Offering Birth & Postpartum Doula Support for UPHP + Medicaid Families

Doulas of Marquette is honored to walk beside families with Upper Peninsula Health Plan (UPHP) and Medicaid — offering doula care throughout pregnancy, birth, and the first year postpartum. Every family deserves to feel supported, informed, and cared for, and we are here to bring your family compassionate and experienced support!

As your birth doulas, we:
• Offer continuous support through pregnancy and labor/birth
• Help you to learn about childbirth options, comfort measures, and alternatives
• Help prepare your partner to feel confident in support you through your labor and birth

As your postpartum doulas, we:
• Support your recovery, rest, and adjustment at home
• Offer infant feeding, breastfeeding, and pumping guidance and gentle reassurance
• Help with light housekeeping so you can focus on healing and bonding as a family

We were able to attend this wonderful event along with taking a tour of the Beacon House Marquette! The space, services, and staff are beyond words. So thankful to have this beautiful and healing place for families in our community to land when they need support the most. 🤍

Most babies feed like the blueberries. Some big feeds and some small feeds. Some feeds close together and others spaced further apart. And then there's 'cluster feeding' – where your baby feeds very frequently (or almost continuously!) over a period of a few hours.⁠
⁠
A rigid breastfeeding schedule can compromise a healthy milk supply. By offering the b**b whenever your baby 'asks' for it, you'll be stimulating your breasts to make more milk because breast milk production works on a ‘supply and demand’ basis – the more milk you remove, the more your body is signalled to make.⁠
⁠
So watch your baby, not the clock and feed according to your baby's hunger cues. This way you'll support a healthy milk supply that's attuned to your baby’s needs.⁠
