September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month 🩸

Sickle cell disease is a genetic blood disorder that affects the shape and function of red blood cells, making it harder for them to carry oxygen throughout the body. This can cause severe pain, anemia, infections, and other serious health complications.

-Sickle cell disease affects millions worldwide, including about 100,000 people in the United States.
-It is most common among African American, Hispanic, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern populations.
-Early diagnosis, regular checkups, and proper treatment can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
