There is something so deeply special about the kind of community that forms around the land 🤍🌾

A friend from the farming community thought of me and showed up with the most beautiful gift of homemade bread. Bread made with care, time, and intention. And it wasn’t just the bread… it was what it represented.

In a world that can often feel disconnected, lonely, overwhelming and painful, I’ve found some of the most genuine, generous, and heart-led people through farming. People who create, who give, and who share what they have simply because it feels right. No expectations—just love in action.

If I’m being honest, it hasn’t always been easy finding people who truly see you, value you, and honor what you bring into the world. That kind of connection is sacred. And it’s also a reminder to…
Be the person you’re seeking. Be the friend who gives, who thinks of others, who creates and shares from the heart.

And don’t be afraid to seek out the spaces and communities where that kind of love already exists. There are good people out there. I’m grateful to be finding them, one meaningful connection at a time 🤍

Happy First Day of Spring!

This summer, I’m opening up a small number of spaces for something that feels really special to me.

At AZ Farm & Wellness, I’m offering a 12-week Rooted & Resilient Summer Internship. This internship provides a chance to spend your summer more connected to the land, your body, and meaningful work.

This isn’t just about helping on a farm. It’s about learning a different rhythm.

Mornings might look like watering plants, harvesting what’s in season, or getting your hands in the soil. Other days might include creating simple, intentional content, making bouquets from what’s growing, or supporting a small community workshop or event.

Along the way, you’ll be introduced to my ROOT method—regulate, observe, outlet, transform—and begin to understand how nature can support nervous system regulation, healing, and personal growth.

This is a hybrid experience, with a mix of in-person time on the land and a small amount of remote creative work. It’s designed to be about 5–10 hours a week from June through August, and is best suited for someone within about 15–25 miles of Marseilles, Illinois who is able to travel to the farm.

While this is an educational internship (not hourly paid), you will receive mentorship, hands-on experience, a final project you can carry forward, and a letter of recommendation. There are also opportunities to earn commission through things like bouquet or event participation, and you’ll have access to fresh produce and flowers throughout the season.

More than anything, this is for someone who is craving something different—someone who wants to learn by doing, who doesn’t mind getting a little dirty, and who feels curious about the connection between nature, healing, and community.

If that feels like you, I’d love to hear from you.

Weekly Reset Walks are here! 🌿

Yesterday was the first 30 minute walk around the Prairie Loop at Dayton Bluffs Preserve. The walk affirmed my felt safety I've built through these walks and farming. It is 10 years ago this month I started the year that helped me overcome my chronic depression and anxiety with walks like these.

If you or someone you know are struggling with overwhelm, anxiety, depression, isolation, or even just want an opportunity to model emotional regulation for kiddos with kiddos, then join me for Rooted & Resilient Reset Walks — a gentle community nature walk focused on grounding, stress release, and building resilience for adults and families. They are free. Come build inner safety in community with me.

Next Walk in March 25th from 5:00-5:30pm CST. I look forward to walking this journey of wellness with you. ✨

This spring, I’m hosting gentle weekly nature walks designed to help adults and families regulate the nervous system, release stress, build resilience, and strengthen connection — even if that wasn’t modeled earlier in life.

These walks are guided by my ROOT Method (Regulate, Observe, Outlet, Transform) and inspired by my own healing journey using nature and mindful movement to overcome depression and overwhelm.

Each 30-minute walk includes grounding, silent present-awareness walking, reflection, and community connection — all in a nurturing, low-pressure space.

This week I had a powerful reminder of how deeply media bias doesn’t just shape our thoughts. It lives in our bodies too.

Growing up with a disability, I didn’t understand why I was treated differently. I was often labeled “difficult” simply for advocating for my needs. Instead of questioning broken systems, the message was clear: I was the problem.

That’s ableism and it’s quietly reinforced everywhere.

In much of our culture (especially here in the Midwest), media celebrates pushing through pain, nonstop productivity, and physical endurance as markers of worth. The “hard worker who never slows down.” While it sounds inspiring, it subtly tells anyone who needs rest, support, or accommodations that they are weak, lazy, or less valuable. Disability portrayals in mainstream media focus on overcoming challenges rather than systemic barriers, reinforcing these subtle messages of blame and shame.

Over time, those messages don’t just stay in our heads. They become internalized.

This week while doing emotional release work, I connected with another layer of deep feelings of shame I had been carrying — shame shaped by society, community, and media narratives around ability and worth. The wild part? Shame for me resides in my left shoulder. A few months ago, a layer of shame had been living in my left shoulder for years as a golf-ball-sized knot of muscle tension.

When I released those emotions, the knot released too. And it hasn’t come back. Even my massage therapist of five years noticed.

Our bodies remember what our minds normalize.

Biased media doesn’t just influence public opinion. It quietly teaches people who belongs, who is valued, and who must “overcome” themselves to be worthy of respect. For many disabled individuals, that turns into self-blame instead of recognizing systemic barriers that should never have existed in the first place.

According to research, microaggressions and subtle ableist messaging can increase stress, anxiety, and even chronic pain in disabled individuals, showing the mind-body connection in action.

And this isn’t just true for disability.
Similar patterns show up around race, gender, body size, mental health, and other marginalized identities when media subtly teaches who is valued and who must “prove” their worth.

Healing isn’t just physical. Unlearning shame is a form of resistance.
Changing narratives changes lives and bodies.

A Line in the Soil 🌱

At AZ Farm & Wellness, we are guided by natural law—the understanding that life thrives through balance, accountability, and respect for all living beings.

In light of the recent killings of American citizens, it feels necessary to be clear about where we stand.

We believe all life is sacred.
We believe every human being has the right to live in dignity.
We believe no one should live under abuse, fear, or dehumanization.

Nature teaches us this truth again and again: when systems become violent, extractive, or disconnected from accountability, life withers. When boundaries are ignored, harm follows. Harmony is not passive—it is upheld through responsibility, care, and clear lines.

This is our line in the soil.

We stand for the protection of life.
We stand for accountability where harm has occurred.
We stand for communities rooted in safety, truth, and respect.
And we are not only naming what we will no longer tolerate—we are committing to what we are here to grow.

At AZ Farm & Wellness, we cultivate spaces where:
• Children are protected, seen, and guided with care
• Adults are supported in reparenting themselves with both compassion and accountability
• Families learn to regulate, repair, and reconnect rather than dominate or disconnect
• Emotions are met with skill, not punishment
• Power is used to protect life, not control it

We bring practices that restore nervous systems, rebuild trust, and reconnect people to the wisdom of the land and their own inner knowing. Just as healthy soil requires boundaries, nourishment, and stewardship, so do human beings.
Our work is about growing cultures of responsibility, emotional intelligence, and respect—starting at the roots.

This is how we choose life.
This is how we restore harmony.
This is what we are growing.

🌿 Rooted in life.
🌿 Committed to dignity, safety, and repair.

This week I received seeds. I always get excited at this time of year. New beginnings, new opportunities to transform and grow through adversity. I’ve been using this winter to strengthen and cultivate the wisdom from my past to help me transition my identity to be in alignment with God’s plan for me.

The seeds of constant change revealed my path of transforming emotional wounds into wisdom, and using truth, voice, and presence to help others do the same.

You see it wasn’t just farming, nutrition, functional medicine, horticulture therapy, and cultivating my spirituality that transformed me- it was my ability to process deep seated beliefs and emotions that were in the way of who I was and meant to become.

Every life challenge whether it be physical pain from O.I. to strength and ease, fear of painful relationships to building safe and loving relationships, single to married, infertility to motherhood, life path confusion to life path clarity was using my tools in an intentional targeted way for becoming my next best version of Self.

These seeds will seed the intention for holding space for processing transitions, grief support, and shifting harmful shame for others. As I continue the depths of my counseling education, I will not be doing a farm-stand and will instead offer ways to connect with the tool of farming in building your best next version of Self this year.

Stay tuned for more details on what that will look like in the Spring 2026.
