We’ve heard your concerns and suggestions!

Yesterday MARC hosted a meeting bringing together local nonprofits, community centers, Madison County’s Emergency Coordinator, Red Cross and town leadership from Hot Springs and Marshall. We discussed observations from Helene and what could be improved upon, how these organizations can support each other as well as the possibility of emergency response training for community members.

A great step toward making resiliency and connectedness stronger across the county!

We are most grateful for our partnership with Pisgah Legal Services. From individual case support to joining forces to host our Resource Fairs last fall, they’ve been an invaluable partner not only for MARC, but throughout the region.

Check out how many Long Term Recovery Groups have come to be since Helene in WNC! It’s really heartening to see such a robust recovery response across the region 😊

Madison County Government administrative offices, libraries, DSS, and Health Department: Operations begin at 10 a.m.

Transfer Station and Collection Centers: Operations begin at 10 a.m.

Madison County Transportation Authority: No service on Tuesday, February 3.

Madison County Senior Meal sites: No service on Tuesday, February 3

Madison County Courthouse: No operations for Tuesday, February 3

Madison County Courts: No operations for Tuesday, February 3

Y'all, MARC's partnership with Mennonite Disaster Service has been incredibly beneficial to Madison County families who lost their housing from the storm.

We are currently partnered on FOUR rebuilds! These families are expected to move back home very soon! 👏👏👏

🚨Several disaster recovery resource deadlines are coming up fast! Please don't miss out on these significant resources for Helene survivors.

Local Long-Term Recovery Groups and Pisgah Legal Services are available to help with applications and assistance if needed. These programs and deadlines include:

✅January 31, 2026: Renew NC Funding to Repair or Rebuild Your Home

✅February 28, 2026: Partial Reimbursement for Road & Bridge Repairs

✅March 31, 2026: FEMA Assistance and Appeals Winding Down
FEMA rental assistance ends March 26. FEMA appeals should be submitted as soon as possible.

✅April 15, 2026: Disaster-Related Tax Deductions
WNC taxpayers with disaster recovery expenses may be eligible for tax deductions.

We’re excited to share that the MARC Moving Art Piece has made its way to the Laurel Community Center! This is a Helene based interactive piece created by simbach.
Go check it out 😊You may add your own thoughts or drawings on future preparedness and tuck them into the pockets of the piece.
It will be there for the next 2 weeks.

Also, if you’ve not been to the Laurel Community Center, go! They’ve got some incredible ecological educational programs and events going on in the warmer months, in addition to the events and services they offer.

The last 2 photos are of an absolutely incredible mosaic that is filled with native plants and animals. It has a corresponding key so you can learn to identify the different species 🤯 Educational art.

We really enjoyed taking a tour and appreciate LCC hosting the piece. We’re looking forward to learning what ideas and thoughts will be shared from that side of the county about future preparedness 😊

In light of the recent cuts to food assistance MARC will be hosting a food drive for Beacon of Hope Services beginning today at the Welcome Center in Hot Springs. Please see the list below 👇

In addition to the massive role Beacon plays in helping provide food security for our county, they have been an alliance partner of MARC’s from the beginning. We’re most grateful for this partnership and hope you’ll join us in supporting their work of feeding our neighbors.
