Our 1st series challenge coins have arrived! Traditionally, these coins are presented to prove membership or to show exclusive partnership with a specific group. Dating back to World War I, challenge coins would also represent a special achievement, purpose, or accomplishment. Detailed with logos from YSS, 911 Emergency communications center, the Marshalltown Police Department, and MPACT, these coins are available for a $10.00 minimum purchase. Funds raised will go right back into MPACT to help support the unique needs of the program. This could be food cards for those placed in emergency hotel stays, fuel cards to get people to sources of support, or other needs that are not covered by our program’s funding streams. This coin was limited to a production of 100. Purchase yours at Hellberg’s Jewelers in downtown Marshalltown during their regular store hours, Monday-Friday 10-5:00 or Saturdays from 10-1:00.

This summer, Ames will welcome a voice in the recovery community who has inspired so many on their own journeys.

At Ember Recovery Campus, our youth are doing the hard work of healing and building their futures. We would love the opportunity for them to share their stories with Jelly Roll while he is in town.

YSS community, you can help make that happen. Share this post, tag him, and use the hashtag to amplify their voices and create hope and opportunity.

We are looking forward to providing data, updates, as well as some Q and A from another successful year of MPACT. Plus, you’ll have an opportunity to support the program by buying a very limited edition challenge coin, creatively designed by the Marshall County 911 Communications Team! All funds from the coins go directly to support the unique needs of those served by MPACT, such as food gift cards, fuel-only gas cards, etc. Please join us and our law enforcement partners on the 26th at Tannin.

We are grateful for Stacy and her team at MARSHALLTOWN Company!

YSS recently held its yearly awards luncheon in Ames. The organization, celebrating its 50th year, “empowers youth by providing education, counseling and stability.” This year, Marshalltown-based Stacy Kelley earned the Outstanding Service Award for YSS of Marshall County. Kelley works in customer operations at MARSHALLTOWN Co. and spends most of her day assisting customers with claims.

“My husband, Gary, and I moved to Marshalltown from Grundy Center in 2021,” she said. “Our youngest son was already at ISU, and we were both employed by MARSHALLTOWN Co. Gary is a controls engineer. For us, it made sense to live near work and support the community.”

She started volunteering for YSS of Marshall County the year they relocated to Marshalltown. For David Hicks, senior director of community engagement at YSS, it was a no-brainer nominating Kelley for the award.

“Personally, I believe Stacy leads with her heart,” he said. “She would be anyone’s ‘mom.’ She takes great care in helping others, even in the smallest of details that most do not see. In a world that often measures worth in terms of achievements and accomplishments, choosing to live with a good heart and expecting nothing in return seems really different.”

Members1st Community Credit remains committed to engaging the communities they serve. By supporting local agencies, initiatives, and diverse populations, Members1st continues to empower Central Iowa. Michelle. Juliana, and Brenda stopped by to drop off multiple bags of items to support our programs. Sheila Paul, who recently celebrated 3 decades of employment with YSS, was happy to accept them on behalf of the 34 young adults she case manages who have aged out of foster care.
