After 13 years at Marshfield Clinic Health System and over 40 years in medicine, Dr. Thomas Fritsche is retiring today. He will continue a part-time presence in the Marshfield Clinic Research Institute as a Researcher Emeritus working with Dr. Jennifer Meece and her staff on projects related to tick-borne diseases.

“I have tremendously enjoyed interactions with the many providers, nurses, technologists, infection prevention staff, fellow pathologists, administrators and the many other Clinic staff that have made these last 13 years truly special," he said. “There have been challenges, no question, but some of the most memorable people I have met in my career have been here at Marshfield Clinic. Those interactions have been tremendously rewarding."

Please join us in thanking Dr. Fritsche for his great work and wishing him good luck in retirement!

It's Marshfield Labs Professional Week!

While much of their work is done behind the scenes, our lab staff is vital to keeping our patients in our communities safe and healthy. Marshfield Labs staff has conducted 4 million tests over the past 12 months.

Did you know? According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 14 billion lab tests are ordered annually, and 70% of medical decisions depend on laboratory results!

This past year has highlighted the importance of lab professionals. Our lab staff responded swiftly and worked tirelessly to meet the needs of our patients and providers during the COVID-19 pandemic. To date our lab professionals have conducted roughly 300,000 COVID-19 tests quickly and efficiently, providing around-the-clock testing at our System hospitals.

This week is Medical Lab Professionals Week, so we wanted to give a special shout out to our Lab staff. Our lab professionals went above-and-beyond this past year, so please join us in thanking our medical laboratory professionals for their hard work and dedication in the comments!
