Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy, or HIPEC, is a procedure where any visible tumors are removed in the patient’s abdomen. Thank you Dr. Megan Gannon for helping shape the future of rural health care!

Dr. Gannon, general surgery resident at Marshfield Medical Center, was recently presented with a Resident Teaching Award from the Wisconsin Academy of Rural Medicine (WARM) class of 2025.

The award is based on student nominations from learning experiences during their clinical rotations with Marshfield Clinic. The residency program at Marshfield Clinic has now graduated a total of 940 residents and 63 post-doctoral fellows since 1974. More than 100 of those graduates are caring for patients at Marshfield Clinic.

Dr. Gannon was presented the award by Dr. Anna Seydel, breast surgeon at Marshfield Clinic.

Born and raised in Loyal, Wisconsin, Ashley Kaiser, P.A.-C., has a goal to provide continuing, preventive care to families. She has a special interest in rural medicine, including farm injuries and farmers’ health concerns.
