Congratulations to Jordan Hooyman, emergency medicine physician assistant, and Cassandra Hooyman, registered nurse, at Marshfield Medical Center, who were recently honored with a Shining Star for making a positive impact when caring for a patient.
The person that nominated them said this: “Our 9 year old daughter was seen in Urgent Care in February for a fever, vomiting and a very red and sore throat. She was very nervous about going to “the doctor”. Jordan and Cassie were her care team. Jordan entered the room with a smile on his face and spoke directly to our daughter. He cared about how SHE felt and what he could do to make her feel better. He immediately put her to ease.
The turnover of patients in the Urgent Care setting is high, and patients often feel like a box on an assembly line, but Jordan made us feel like we were his only patients. He and his wife, Cassie, our daughter’s nurse, brought humor and kindness into the room. No one wants to go up to Urgent Care on a weekend day and wait for possibly hours to be seen. They made a situation filled with anxiety a good experience...We NEED people like Jordan and Cassie in our system to care for our patients. Thank you Jordan and Cassie for your excellent care.”
A Shining Star is awarded when a donation of any size is given to Marshfield Clinic Health System Foundation to say a special thank you to a provider or staff member.
