Pumping tip:
If you’re not seeing visible milk sprays or streams during pumping, you may not be hitting a strong letdown. Try:
Hands-on massage before and during pumping
Looking at baby photos or videos
Heat on the breasts before starting
Adjusting suction and speed to mimic baby’s nursing rhythm
Let me know if you’d like help checking fl**ge fit too!

FAQ Friday:
“Do I have enough milk?”
This is one of the most common concerns I hear, and it’s totally valid.
Here are some signs your baby is getting enough:
At least 6 wet diapers and 3–4 poopy ones by day 5
Baby seems content after feeding
You hear or see swallowing
Weight gain after the first week
If you’re unsure, reach out. That’s what I’m here for.

Lactation fact of the day:

Did you know your baby’s first milk—colostrum—is often just a few teaspoons per feeding, and that’s perfect?
Colostrum is liquid gold: full of antibodies, easy to digest, and exactly what your baby needs in those early days.
Your body is already doing incredible work.
Trust it. Trust you.

It is safest not to drink alcohol if you breastfeed your baby, but taking in up to one standard drink a day at least two hours before breastfeeding is not known to be harmful to the baby.

Current research says that occasional use of alcohol (1-2 drinks) does not appear to be harmful to the nursing baby. Many experts recommend against drinking more than 1-2 drinks per week. (drink sizes: 1.75 oz. of liquor, 4 oz. wine, 12 oz. beer - but this also depends on your body size)

Per Hale (2019), "mothers who ingest alcohol in moderate amounts can generally return to breastfeeding as soon as they feel neurologically normal."

Alcohol does not accumulate in the breastmilk, but leaves the milk as it leaves the blood. So when your blood levels are back down so are your milk levels.
